So, I got the game and did the tutorial (lol).

I'm about to go into my first mission, but all of them on every planet are already underway - some with a level 50 seemingly boosting level 1s?

What's the play here?

Some of the high level players are chill and will go play low level stuff to help new people. Trivia difficulty missions will usually have people levels 1-8. Easy 8-11, and medium 11+.

Also matching into quickplay is a great way to find a squad to play with.

But yeah I play along with the high level people until they start to carry too hard or get all sweaty.

So, did the 'trivial' one solo - easy mode.

Did the 'easy' one with two other guys. One of whom called an orbital strike on the spawn and giggled the entire time, spamming the supply drop way away while yelling 'where's the objective' (it was 'destroy the eggs' 2x). He enjoyed shooting teammates as well. What should have taken me and 2 other 'decent players' 10 minutes took us 38 minutes.

Tempted to refund, srs. lol

Trolling is the best part

I normally don't troll in this game, but the 15 minute (its a lot faster) defense mission where you just kill like 100-150 bug/bots and then extract .. basically a 5 minute mission. (best exp mission for your time)...


and if a teammate dies during the ship extraction i will quickly reinforce him, but toss him across the map and watch him spend the 15 second countdown running for his life to extract and fall short. the exp hurts us but not that much, its just funny to see once in a while.

As soon as we finished the first mission they reupped right away for a second so I must have done something right. What I really like is I can pick up the game, play a couple of missions for 40-60 minutes and then leave and it's no big deal.

Maybe once armor is fixed. Right now armor is borked so running heavy armor is hurting you more than helping. We typically have 2 people with grenade launchers/resupply and 2 with railcannons or spears. The big guys can basically one shot you but don't overlook how much the swarms of small chit can slow you down or outright get you killed. At the higher difficulties you basically always have numerous chargers and titans on the battlefield at a time and same with bots, always hulks and tanks on the field.

Reinforce was the first one I memorized lol. Once you get the Eagle and Orbital stratagems memorized it really makes you feel like a one man army.

$40 price tag is keeps me hesitant. Is it really that good?

If you're hesitant then wait for a sale. I personally enjoy the game even as a solo player, but if it's not something you immediately thought about buying then wait.

I suspect it's at least as good as two large pizzas from Dominos.

I don't like to throw away money but to me Time > Money when it comes to my resources. I have more of one than the other and one of those resources is only getting smaller and smaller as every day passes.

The mech maps are so much harder.

Even with my premade, was awesome. I used the rocket launcher to try to shoot the mech drop ships in midair, only once could I one shot one.

The game is a *lot* of fun in a group that communicates. I'm popping back down in difficulty to do some solo runs. Exploration is super rewarding by the way as those resources you farm upgrade your ship.

Bind strategem keys to the arrow keys, so that you can still wasd move properly while inputting them!

So you're saying bind to arrow keys then you take right hand off mouse to key them and you can continue running with wasd?

Interesting might give that a shot repped

Yep. And can change strategem button to tap or press so you don't have to hold it.

- calling in your strategem lets say your weapon at the start of the game and its glitch and now you called down an eagle, and vice versa later in the game when you need an eagle and it calls down your weapon

- reinforcement bug where no matter what you can't reinforce your dead teammates and it can happen randomly during a long game making the mission impossible to extract with only 1 player alive practically

I ran into a bug that completely disabled my keyboard controls. I was at low health trying to escape a mob of armored bots and got killed because I couldn't move.

That one actually pissed me off lol. Hopefully the get these bugs fixed quickly.

EDIT: This also happens sometimes after respawning in a new hellpod. ADSing seems to stop the issue.

first one is a map effect when you're playing against the robots. check out the modifiers pre-game.
second one is a map side objective, the strategem scrambler. its a pain in the ass.

i've seen the strategem jammers but that wouldn't let us use the any strategem til we destroyed the jammer.


i think thats probably the worst mechanic to drop random strategems all game long.. they should switch it to random strategems can be disabled for a certain amount of time or something.

might be that you've ran out the mission timer then. When you're waiting on dropship, mission timer can technically be 0:00 which disables all strategems including reinforcements

theres a mission out there that contains an antenna jammer once you get to that certain radius it turns disables your strategems and you have to go in to disable the jammer

Dear diary,

Got it yesterday, got hyped while it downloaded (my internet @ home was trash yesterday), got home after helping my folks, got in, somehow skipped the tutorial, went back to the tutorial, could not get **** working on the Steam Deck, refunded in frustration.

Calmer today, I rebought it. I key binded the stupid press in the joystick buttons to L4/R4, got a jewelry loop out and was able to (barely) read the key needed to call in the air strikes and such, died about 10 times in the tutorial... but I got through it and at least know which buttons do what, sort of.

It runs fine on the steam deck, if anyone cares -- you do need to play with the settings unlike most games, but it's really just a matter of dialing chit back. I'll try to dive in a little more later this week when I get some free time @ home.

Did one of my first few "Challenging" level missions this week. Some how not three (there was one more) but FOUR tanks dropped on us at once with walkers and other heavy units.

We got decimated lol.

I might just start running a full tankbuster/anti heavy build in higher levels.

Gotta say, I've ran it on the Steam deck (so, with a controller) and mouse and keyboard. MAK, I can aim very well but I find running around harder. Controller, the opposite. I run well but can't aim for ****. Might try it more with mouse/keyboard and try binding keys a little more fluid or ergonomically. Already did with run, weird placement of that key, had to use one hand to click run, another to maneuver. Weird choice. Note: I am dick for FPS style games, this is one of the first I've played since old school Doom.

I'm on the extreme difficulty atm, but tbh I feel like I'm getting carried at this point since I'm only level 8 and am missing a lot of essential tools lol.

Eagle Airstrike is dope. Anti Material Rifle is dope. Messing around with the different primaries but leaning towards the SMG-37 Defender until I unlock the breaker.

Walking barrage is actually pretty cool to use if you know how to angle your throw. I have armor that gives me a better throw distance and have taken out small and medium outposts with one well placed barrage from a safe enough distance to outrun detection or any dropships that come.

Yeah reworking the binds helps a lot. LogicalLifts tip for the stratagems helps a lot on M&K.

I haven't even made it there, and had to deal with 4 tanks and an artillery cannon on challenging mode. Can't wait to hit level 20 to get some other stuff that might help in those missions.

Smg defender is a solid weapon, and more powerful than the weapon you start off with.

Smoke is underrated. Completely breaks line of sight so you can disengage and stage a counter ambush or flee to safety.

The dome shield plus walking barrage is also a great defensive tool since it can tank some of the explosive damage if you need to drop it close.

Yep. Running smoke eagles, air strike eagle, AMR, and orbital laser and am consistently able to solo suicide missions now for automatons. Smoke eagles can also blow up factories
