I’m mostly in it for economic growth and opportunity, we have a huge Northern landmass with tons of fresh water in a planet that seemingly continues getting hotter and hotter. The prairies are empty af, nothing but flat good land to build and do things on.

I get that people particularly in Ontario and BC don’t see the need, but I’m all for Alberta expanding and don’t really care where they come from as long as they’re good people. Immigrants from less developed areas tend to be driven and hard working af, and lots of people born here are less so.

And people here aren’t having enough babies, as is the norm in very developed societies, an aging society with falling birth rates will lead to much worse things.

My problem is that these immigrants don't give a crap about growth and opportunity and provide nothing that the country needs. Instead, they don't even assimilate and move into communities where all the people like them live (eg Brampton) and inevitably will start to whine about making laws the same as they had back home. Same thing that happened in the UK.

If we could implement a system where these people actually had skills we need like medicine, engineering, etc or at the very least were enrolled in professional programs - not diploma mills - and told them if you come here you have to move to places like rural Alberta, Saskatchewan, etc. then I'd be fine with it. All they are doing now is piling 20 year olds in with no education and no skills and flooding places like Toronto and Vancouver. Would love to see an experiment where they create a small city with 50k Indian immigrants in northern Alberta with all the infrastructure and money they require to run it and see how that turns out.

Importing millions of people with strong nationalistic sentiment to their home country who refuse to assimilate and adopt the culture of the host nation is a recipe for destruction.

The fact that 75% of our immigrants are coming from one place tells you a lot. And instead of skilled workers that we need we are letting people come here under the pretense of being students, and then letting them import their whole family of ten. All while there is no place for any of them to live.

Thankfully not only are people starting to get pissed off about it (finally), the people coming here are starting to realize they got a raw deal and are starting to leave or caution against more people coming. And then we decide we're going to let in more refugees, even though they also have no place to live.

I think you'll see a lot more net migration into Alberta and out of Ontario and BC, last year we were hitting net migration levels double anything seen going back to the 1970s.

Taxes are low, real estate is still affordable, permitting for new construction is accommodating, the oil & gas industry is back to producing insane amounts of money and the provincial government is running a big surplus
