The amount of misconception and ignorance with non-lifting folks is truly astounding.
And yeah, my wife once cut down at like 1200 or so. It makes sense given that her BMR at her size was like 1250 or something. She worked with a female bodybuilder who knew what she was doing. But fuk I felt bad for her. 1200 is less than a child lol. Myself at 1800 is quite brutal.

Not sure if this has been your experience, but for myself personally, my yearly cuts have become more and more challenging to engage in, with logistics becoming more complex as time goes on. I did it successfully in the past 4 years or so and hit a new peak last year, but for the first time I have serious doubts for this year's cut. I'm going to kick myself in the ass and push as hard as I possibly can, but it's definitely going to be my biggest challenge to willingly be in a deficit for nearly 100 days given current lifestyle and pressures. I might have to create a plan B this year.

This will sound crazy but we learned about weights in 7th grade GYM class, so i enjoyed it and just continued FOREVER.
There was no phase, just lifting and trying out various gnc products and then VS over time.
Diet and cardio to lean out a bit; just 1 endless lifetime lifting sesion. There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!
