People bitch so much about teachers being underpaid but in my area a teacher 5k a year more than a full time firefighter.
Meanwhile teachers work less than 40 hours a week and firefighters work on average 56 hours a week and they actually work hard, train and put there lives on the line while bitchy teachers sit in a chair and bitch all day long not helping anybody.

Firefighters make more than teachers where I live. And they only work like 1 week a month.
And no, they gotta respond to all kinds of bs. A lot of morons don't know what gas smells like and call in gas leak calls cause a dog took a chit in their basement or something. They get there then call the utility company to tell the customer it's dog chit.I'm 33 not 51

It’s either 24/48 or 48/96 but when you factor in the sleep deprivation it basically feels like you only get 1 day off because the first day or 2 is spent trying to recover.
You’ll constantly be tired and you gotta deal with fkn coworkers who make the job there whole personality and literally live to work.
It’s like a fkn cult we’re killing our selves for minimum wage and these idiots are telling everybody it’s the best job they’ve ever had meanwhile they have to take 6 different medications for all the health problems they refuse to acknowledge came from the job. That ain’t Dababy that’s Basedbaby!

Teachers take work home so they work more than 40 hours and they have to deal with your children whom you didn’t teach how to behave. They’re chronically stressed. I have a relative who is a teacher and they would not recommend being a teacher.

Lol. Firefighting being dangerous is the biggest modern day scams. Nobody does interior attack any more, it's safe as **** 99% of the time and an incredibly easy job. You get your NFPA 1001/1002 and Hazmat awareness/ops online with like 2 weeks of easy face to face. All of my firefighter friends are incredibly low IQ and bitch when they actually have to do any work. They sleep on most of their nightshifts. Their medical (first aid skills) are a joke too.
The firefighter PR machine is absurd.
Teaching is a miserable gig cuz 80% of kids are raised by iPads now and school has become babysitting and a place where kids have to be patented for the first time in their lives. Here FFs make about 120,000 and teachers make 90,000 (Canadian).Tobacco prostitute

I do think teachers whine a bit much about pay, but they definitely aren't "overpaid" lol.
Teachers in my county (which is one of the highest paid in the state), start at ~61k with a masters degree. in this area you'd need to have a roommate and drive a hoopty if you wanted any hope of saving money at the end of the month on the salary. on top of that, they have to buy a large percentage of their own school supplies.
their pay follows a step-scale in which they don't break the 6 figure mark until hitting 27 years of service . thats insane. currently, their pay tops out at $112k after 30 years.
and while they may get decent breaks, they do complete a lot of work in their off hours (lesson planning, grading, mandatory trainings, other school responsibilities).
and then you factor in dealing with the kids of today and their parents. no support from administration, trash parents blaming you for everything, forced to teach to a chit curriculum, zoomers on tik-tok in class, blatant disrespect, etc, on and on.
You know its a problem when many teachers cant afford to live in the areas they teach in (many large coastal metro's). You hear stories of 3 teachers with master's degrees and 10+ years of experience who are all renting a house together 45 minutes outside of the city they teach in.
this problem isnt isolated to teachers though, its just a symptom of the larger issue of stagnant wages across all professions. its just more pronounced in public service jobs. cops in my area are the same, they can just exploit and abuse overtime to pad their wages to 6 figures+ almost immediately.Reps to all BJJ/grappling/MMA bros.

Hard to say what's going on in your area, but it could be that there's a lower barrier of entry to become a firefighter than a teacher.
Teaching generally requires a 4 year degree along with a teaching certification, while being a firefighter generally requires completion of a program at a firefighter academy along with EMT certification.
If you live in a generally blue-collar area, there will be more competition for the limited firefighter positions, driving down what a fire department can pay, while there could be a shortage of certified teachers, requiring increased pay to attract certified teachers.
Hope this helps.

Gonna stop you there chief. Firefighters spend half the time they work sleeping and the other half working out. When the chit hits the fan they're the front line but until that happens they get to chill. I'd take being a firefighter 10 times out of 10 over dealing with other people's whiny azz kids all day

Unironically teachers are the most important job in society. Without them the wagies wouldn’t be able to go to work and the children wouldn’t be able to work a slave job since they wouldn’t have the 16 years of indoctrination from the school system and might think that waking up at 5am everyday might be kinda dumb.
