- 6 meals a day
- obsessing over squats and deadlifts
- thinking I needed 2x more protein than I really did
- putting too much emphasis on crap like different types of protein
And of course, the most timeless classic of them all - thinking I could ever truly compete with the bike riders as a natty myself if I simply outworked them big time.

I remember when people were giving solid advice in a absolutely ridiculous way. Like instead of just saying to switch up your routine from time to time, it was "confuse your muscles by throwing in something different". Instead of saying to try and get protein after a workout if you can, it was "gotta have 40g whey within 20 minutes of working out or workout basically doesn't count".
Probably the only good advice was the meme advice - "gloots for the sloots""If in my say 80 years on earth I do more help than damage, then I feel complete."
"I feel grateful every day I wake up, I know I’m already on borrowed time"

Anabolic window (BRB pounding protein shake immediately after workout)
More is better
Carbs and fat are evil, varied based on current fad
You need supplements
Cardio killed gainsShort cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Misc as well as being in the sciences helped me bob and weave vast majority of the 2000's bro science wave, but the theories around metabolism and meal timing/frequency had me mixed up for a few years. Now I fast daily and do cardio almost every day, 2012 me would throw a fit lmao.

Most of the big ones have already been covered, so I’ll just add that my views on what could be acquired as a natty and what required juice was way off. So many fake nattys talking about hard work that for a while I just assumed it would take a lot longer and more hard work.

I remember my first BB show that was with a "natural" organization. I thought I was in good shape, and then got backstage and there were four guys that were bicycling, even talking about when they went off their stacks so that they would test clean if they had to pee. Two years of hard work, dieting, etc and it was a slap in the face when I realized there was no such thing as "natural". It was naive of me but a learning moment.
Biggest myths: fasted cardio first thing in the morning. So many bikini/wellness girls STILL believe it makes a difference.

They still say that kinda chit. It's just that most of us here are oldcels at this point, so we've learned and know better now.
In all seriousness though, the worst advice any millennial lifters ever got was that orange juice infused lifters could be competed with by natties if the natties simply "worked harder". It's not only the biggest lifting myth ever, but also among the biggest myths period. The reality is that orange juiced lifting/bodybuilding and natty are two completely different games, to the point where they really shouldn't be compared at all. But for some reason, people like to do so. Probably to keep up their delusion that their sports athletes they nuthug "aren't cheaters" and that only a few of them use it.Last edited by FelixTheCat1919; 01-26-2024 at 04:14 AM.
