    I agree. I don't go above 3 plates on bench because it's not worth the risk of injury as well.

    I like to train with heavy weight because it gets me bigger, its more functional and it strokes my ego seeing people astonished

    Therefore I go up to a weight that I can only do for 1 rep sometimes (90% + of 1rm) but a smooth, gorgeous rep that's quality AF sometimes for multiple sets of singles

    Then I'll have some days where I go higher reps and controlled

    You can get great hypertrophic results by simply slowing your rep cadence (ex. 5 seconds up, 1-second pause, 5 seconds down, 1-second pause, and repeat). You won't be able to use as much weight but the amount of effort exerted by your muscles will be intense and given sufficient recovery time, they will grow. More importantly, you'll avoid injuries and/or premature wear and tear.

    As a lifetime (long lifetime) natty, I've always gotten more gains from high volume lower weights (pump and burn) than from lower volume/lower rep ranges/trying to lift heavy.

    you speaking from experience?

    honestly i wouldn't know. i've only lifted heavy and lower reps until relatively recently.

    doing 30-40 reps for like 5 sets per exercise is probably a lot harder than lifting heavy and low reps.

    probably best to get some of both

    Not for any particular reason other than i physically cant because its heavy.

    So I watch a lot of the 4 guys in squares discussion that guys have now on podcasts and there currently is a debate about form , ego lifts and what grows a chest.
    Both nick derek and flex described not getting the real feel of chest contractions for years after training, only then did it begin to change.

    In all seriousness, before he moved to another state the biggest dude in my gym - who was on a ton of gear - did incredibly slow reps with lighter weights. I watched him do a set of squats one night; 60kg - 6 seconds down, pause two seconds, 3 seconds back up.

    Same cadence with a 60kg bench press, 40kg overhead press; he did 5 bodyweight dips per set with the same cadence and he was doing lat pulldowns again the same way. Only ever saw him do machine preacher curls, same.

    Dude was a fukin beast and had about 6 guys he was training with the same way, all big dudes. He'd get in, eat in the lounge area post training then disappear - when his mates weren't training with him (more often than not they wouldn't have him there) they'd do the one set of training then 5 sets of yakking that Ahnold used to hate. But the lack of intensity didn't affect their gains.
