After successful testing in the U.S., Ukraine will soon receive it first big batch of long-range missiles made by Boeing (BA.N), opens new tab that promise to extend its range deep into Russian-held territory, according to sources familiar with the matter.
They could arrive "on the battlefield" as soon as Wednesday, Politico reported.
The plan was for launchers and dozens of warheads to move to Ukraine via an air transport, the person familiar with the test and one of people briefed said.
The timing of the delivery and their ultimate deployment has been secret to preserve the element of surprise. A Pentagon spokesperson declined to comment.
For the Biden administration, the decision to send the GLSDB to Ukraine represents an alternative ATACMS missile, which the administration has so far provided in only small numbers.
The new glide bombs, while not as powerful, are much cheaper, smaller and easier to deploy than ATACMS, making them well suited for much of what Ukraine hopes to accomplish: disrupting Russian operations and creating a tactical advantage.
"It's long past time to finding creative means to provide the capability and capacity needed to strike deep and often behind Russian lines," said Tom Karako, a weapons and security expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.Last edited by dabbmw2002; 01-30-2024 at 08:47 PM.

US used Ukraine as cannon fodder and a weapons testing ground and yet the poor lad is cheering like it's Christmas.
Maybe one day he's going to realise that US wasn't helping Ukraine as much as they needed to contain Russia, test their weapons and make a bit of money.
Instead of neutral status and a minimal loss of land, Ukraine lost a lot more land, lost millions of people and guaranteed themselves an enemy next door that is going to chip a bit of Ukraine off every chance it gets.
Congratulations, you are an idiot. Round of applause.♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞♞

The Washington Post reports details of the conversation between Zelensky and Zaluzhny, during which, as reported by the media, the president urged the chief of staff to resign.
Sources say the discussion on Monday was intense due to their disagreements on how many soldiers Ukraine should mobilize this year.
Zaluzhny proposed mobilizing around 500,000 servicemen. Zelensky considered this number impractical, considering the shortage of uniforms, weapons, and training resources, as well as potential issues associated with mobilization.
It's worth noting that Zelensky had previously publicly stated that Ukraine lacks the funds to pay for such a large number of new recruits.
Zaluzhny argued that Ukraine is already facing a shortage of forces due to increasing losses and needs 400,000 new soldiers to respond to mobilization plans in Russia.
Zelensky told Zaluzhny that Ukrainians are tired of war, and Western partners have slowed down military aid, "so perhaps a new commander will revitalize the situation."
According to WP, the chief of staff and his team will still be dismissed. However, other Western media reported that Zelensky postponed this decision due to information leaks and negative reactions from Western partners.Official misc attaché to the Kremlin

How's that bridge coming? Still standing two years on? I remember when dumb ****s like you had such a hard on that Ukraine was going to destroy that any day. Weird how you guys completely dropped that.
Remember when you were trying your hardest to fluff up that Ukie retard massacre crossing the Dnieper? Weird how you guys completely dropped that too.
Russia is still advancing everywhere, doesn't seem like the previous nine nights did anything. Guess it makes the basement dwelling ass thumbers feel good so that's something.

The pea brain vatniks don't understand that even if a small economy grows with 10% it's still... small and insignificant.
That's why I call them low IQ, they don't understand basic economics and some of the tards actually believe Russia has greater industrial potential than the west.

EU summit agrees 50 billion euro aid package for Ukraine
EU member states on Thursday agreed on an additional aid package totaling 50 billion euros ($54 billion) for Ukraine, European Council President Charles Michel said on social media.
“All 27 leaders agreed on an additional €50 billion support package for Ukraine within the EU budget,” he said. “This locks in steadfast, long-term, predictable funding for #Ukraine. EU is taking leadership & responsibility in support for Ukraine; we know what is at stake.”
EU leaders have been struggling to reach a consensus over the support package, amid opposition from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban who vetoed the aid deal in December. Hungary wants to have an annual review that would allow it a right to veto the disbursements each year, Reuters has reported.
