The fact that russia does look likely to take a chunk out of ukrainian territory, while im sure very sad for the ukrainians, is largely irrelevant to nato. Russia lost its status as scary military power and has only gotten around 15% of Ukraine with a ton of damage on all fronts. The rest of Ukraine is forever lost.
