What kind of pets that people own would make you question their mental health status?
1) 3+ cats. 1 - 2 cats are fine; each one you add after is an extra layer of crazy.
2) Multiple dogs that spend almost 24/7 indoors
3) Any sort of bugs. Spiders, insects. Maybe an ant farm could be okay, but that's it.
4) Ferrets. Their homes reek horrendously even if they "de-stink" them, and the people themselves smell terrible from living with them.

It's never just one or two reptiles, or one repitle terrarium setup, either. They'll have like 3+ cages full of reptiles and a room dedicated to them.
Have you ever seen someone try to take care of a pet turtle? They need to be in like 75 gallon tanks minimum for one smaller turtle (they'll often try to go smaller, but it's wrong) with thoroughal cleanings weekly at the bare minimum, or they will blow out an entire level of a home with the stench. It's like people forget that they are lake animals that are accustomed to constantly pooping in giant lakes with the biodiversity to handle it, and successfully replicating that in an aquarium takes a lot of work.

Snake people will guaranteed be weirdos. Especially the ones with a bag ass one they take out in public.
Same with the parrot on your shoulder. I like birds but for some reason oddballs are drawn to the big parrots."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Agreed. Never understood people who want to own pet tarantulas. You can't interact with them properly, they never care about anything but themselves, they are gross to look, nasty to let crawl on you, and good luck capturing one that escapes. I also think that people who own tarantulas tend to develop weird fascinations with live feedings like watching them slaughter a mouse. "But that's what happens in nature, bro". Oh rly? Because I never recall seeing incels in the wild put spiders into 10 gallon cages and stick live rodents into the cages with them before.

I saw an episode of Hoarders that had the real life Rat King from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as the subject. His wife died tragically young in an accident, then he went off the deep end by making pets out of a pair of rats he found. He wound up with thousands of them overunning the entire house. Blows my mind that someone can actually choose to live that way, super depressed or not. It takes genuine mental illness to take it to that level.
