I went for 9mm, more common, just seems like the best all-around semi-auto handgun round. The standard. What a 38 is to revolvers.

Single stack 9 for concealed carry.

Also 9 is much cheaper to plink with.

The difference between 9mm and 40 are so slim now, that it’s more of an advantage to take the 9mm and benefit from more rounds in the magazine, slimmer grip, and lighter to carry.

The only advantage you might have with having both a .40 and 9mm is that when 9mm ammo gets scarce, you have another option.

I have multiple rifles and handguns in different cartilages for this reason. 44mag, 357, 9mm, .40, and .38 Special in handguns, and 30.06, .308, .223, and 243 in rifles. Try to keep several hundred rounds in each at all times, and at least 1,000 rounds in .223

That’s how I roll. My home defense weapon, Beretta PX Storm (Was a bit of an impulse buy, but it’s a decent gun) has a much larger capacity than my Glock 43 that I carry. I have the Taran tactical +1 magazine, making it an 8 +1. The +2 magazine is really snug and takes a little time to break it in enough to get that last round in their easily. The Beretta has a hammer, which I keep loaded, but with the Hammer down so it’s not always cocked, since it sits in my bedside safe all of the time and only gets fired and cleaned a couple times a year.

Yes, unless you can open carry with a service holster. A .40 is much more bulky and heavier. Those elastic concealed holsters are not comfortable.
