    Lightbulb Getting another bachelors. HALP

I’m planning on starting another bachelors next fall.

I majored in accounting in ‘12 then went officer in the Marines for 11 years.

MBA seemed meh. Planning on doing IT. Any advice (on anything)?

My goal is to pocket GI bill money as long as possible, and then land a decent remote job. Income isn’t a huge concern…not nearly as much as enjoyment or lack of disdain is.

Seems like you have conflicting goals. Unless that other bachelors degree is from somewhere like Stanford it is counter productive to any IT career. Extended time in the academic world is actually a pretty major negative in the technology world because people that spend a lot of time in school with their nose in books reading about how things are supposed to work become pompous twats that don't know anything about how things actually work or how to function in a professional team environment. If you want a career in IT, focus on actually learning how to figure out how to do things, because if things worked like the book says we would have already automated it to do that.

    Exiled93 is online now
We have a similar background lol.

Got an accounting degree and did public for a bit, but then enlisted.

Got out after 1 navy contract - should have commissioned but oh well.

Now a CPA and doing WGU cybersecurity online with the gi bill. Get a small amount of cash for MHA (~900/month) since it's online and it comes with like 14 IT certs...A+, SEC+, Network+, etc...

    Currently studying for A+

I have no experience in IT so it's relatively new to me. But can't see myself as a practicing CPA forever.

I think your background is quite good and you just need to focus on your goal.

The successful people at my company are data engineers. Pay can be low to high six figs. Have you looked into getting a masters in that?

    I don't know a ton of people that got a 2nd bachelor's.

A second bachelor's is a total waste of time. I am a dropout and work 100% remote. No one has even mentioned college on interview in 15 years.

No field is going to change more than IT in the next 10 years. Most IT workers I know are basically in denial when it comes to AI and language models.
