Tune, port injection, most likely catless downpipes, and e sensor. Great cars. Im not entirely sure if you need to send out ecu and tcu to get cracked but that also isnt cheap.

Ill probably never get rid of it.
I was looking at F90 because i wanted something a little bigger... but in order to get and maintain the level of power id be happy with it would be very expensive.
The ATS-V is the best performance bargain right now... you can get one in the 30s... drop in a fuel cam, lpfp and tune (600whp, and reliable) and you can run deeeeeeeep 10s full weight (on a drag pack). Drop out a bunch of weight and :

My car in sig ran a 5.86 60-130, which is the fastest time a manual car has put down. Im throwing nitrous at it next year, but turning down the boost. I ran my big pp tune all summer and my motor is still together so... i guess it comes down to luck and good maintenance. These motor's start spinning bearings around 700whp.Software Eng Crew

sure it's fast but then you'd have to stare at that ugly front end

Was just on track at VIR with a new M3CS. Quite an amazing car. It was a friends car. We were driving our other 2 track cars. But I got to see it run a lot and was on track with it quite a bit. You can pick your kids up from school or take the fam, then bring it to a track and run the balls out of it!
Pretty incredible what the car can do. No doubt a capable car. I am sorry that I take a small chuckle at people who are so obsessed with certain performance stats. 1/4 mile 0-60...etc. While the M3 does well in these, it's ability to really be driven is pretty incredible.
Sad most uninformed are stuck in the world of only focusing on performance metrics which dont really translate into true performance. Eg, my son drove our car on track which would get CRUSHED by the M3 in 0-60 or 1/4 mile, yet he beat the times the M3 could lay down by almost 20 sec a lap!
For a street car though, it is quite a car and could pass off as practical as well.RAW lifts

The M2 seemed like it fulfilled and carried the spirit of M even with last generation, IMO. Cars nowadays and even the M series just are so big and heavy. Last gen F80s were running around 3500 lbs. G80s are running around 4000 lbs.
M2 styling is just as bad as M3/M4. The direction BMW has been going with styling these past few years hasn't been great. Again at least IMO.
Here is the entire interview if anyone is interested BTW.

Depends..... M3 is something you can actually use as a family car. M2...not so much. M2's are quite capable as well. Although I prefer mid engine cars for my 'sports' cars, the M3 fills such a unique niche of a car you can roll though car rider line in and drop the kids off at school and then take it right out on track and have quite incredible performance.
As an all out performance car I would choose something else. But for a car you can really use as a 'daily' and even dare I say 'family' car the M3 is right up there!RAW lifts

Shame about the front end tho, such an ugly design
Tsar Ivan IV Grozny:
“And if you, having a dog's mouth, want to bark for fun—that's your custom as a serf: it is an honor to you, but it is disgrace for us to think of you, let alone to snarl back at you, and there is naught worse in this world than to bark along with you, and if you want to bark, find yourself a serf like you, and bark with him."

When it first came out, I hated the front. But I have to admit it has grown on me and I kind of like it now.
This is my buddies car and it is pretty bad a$$. The carbon buckets in this are incredible too. So if your kid rides in the back in a booster, you have to tell them not to kick the back of the seats all up Any parent knows that feeling!
Was fun watching it run on track for sure. Such a capable car.

No car is brand new. He is not going to tune it as it is his family daily car. He has a R8 spyder and a new Lamboghini Technica for his fun cars.
But pretty amazing the M3 is so capable right out of the box onto the track. I dont think I would take brand new on and tune it either. I would save those kind of things for car no longer in warranty, but that is just me.RAW lifts

Can't really blame him if he has those other cars. He is sitting on a super capable engine is why I was wondering.
I was bagging on the direction BMW has taken their cars earlier in the thread, but there is a part of me that wants to get a G80 just because it has so much more potential for an already fantastic car.

100%. Most people only experience a very small envelope of a car and cant appreciate what the M3 puts into it's package. If you want max hp and straight line speed, go buy a Hellcat like most of the other self described 'car guys' who really have no idea how to drive a car.
The M3 is so incredibly capable and that blows my mind. Seeing this 'sedan' rip across track days is really something else. It deserves a ton of respect for what they accomplished. I have been on track with quite a few at different places and these cars always deliver.
For perspective, we are out on track with fully prepped race cars. Seeing a 'grocery getter' out there driving respectable times is pretty cool!
For me personally, I would probably go the route of having 2 cars. One for utility of daily driving and one for performance. But if you only want one car, a M3 is hard to beat and I cant imagine there is much that can compete with it as a 'total' package. Legit race car performance in a 'sedan' practical package.RAW lifts
