I've sailed since I was about 8yo. Taught sailing in the med and experience sailing on the south coast which is pretty full on with double tides, sandbanks and lots of traffic. Taught lots of sailing courses, done many, many hrs of safety cover. The sea scares me, a lot. What looks idyllic can turn into a nightmare very quickly. After a hiatus, I'm back sailing on a big inland lake and I'm glad to not be sea sailing.
I'm not a yacht guy but I can still remember sailing out of sight of land on a 35footer for the first time and the boat felt like a tiny toy. During the night doing sail changes in the dark in F8 was emotional. Do not fuk around with the sea.

sharks are the least of your worries i promise. oceaon is a killer in it self. i give an average person 30 seconds within anything above regular waves let alone anything more serious. its game over. gives me anxiety when i go to the beach when i see idiots swimming out with poor technique. risking their lives

I have been fishing in Bermuda on high school friend's small 12 foot boat....never worried at all. Caught a baby shark by hand line.
Been swimming and snorkelling at Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda. Never worried.
Sharks there come out at night and circle the Island. Went fishing for them off some rocks but caught none.
