To be fair, 120k miles would last me a long arse time as someone who is WFH and uses ubers for most vacations (flying instead of long road trips). I'd probably be fine for 13-15 years, srs.
But obviously this isn't ideal anyways, you want the car to be at least close to functional for resale value when you upgrade down the road.
As a rentcel, I'd have to pay extra to get a garage with charging capabilities.i7-14700k

So he bought the car for $53k, saved $10k by not needing gas, but then ended up having to pay $9k for a refurbished battery that only gets him 85% of the car's range when it was new. And he is also scared to charge it more than 80% now as well, lest the battery die again.
This is kinda like when rentcels say they'll invest the difference. When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Sure there are the anti-tesla, anti-EV people, but the worst of the worst are the Tesla Fanbois. Most of them don't even own a Tesla but they love to talk about how amazing they are.
Know something about the batteries? Do you know how they are constructed? Do you know what happens when batteries are charged, and discharged especially rapidly? Do you understand how electricity works? Do you understand how conductors, semiconductors, and insulation works? Do you understand what that leads to? So many "engineers" on the misc, so many in "tech" jobs. Lets see if anyone can explain.

It’s the next day. Come on misc!
Where is some thread about how a guy in a Tesla got squeezed to death by a seat that started sliding forward by itself and mashed the driver into a steering wheel and he died?
Or maybe you can dig up some news story about how a Tesla ran over a puppy in a driveway by itself several times? Then went to a car wash by itself to hide the blood on its tires?

Jesus christ he ran that thing hard! 120k miles (of stop and go city traffic) in 15 months doing Uber?
Unless its a base model Honda or Toyota, no modern day ICE would be able to handle that abuse. Older cars may be able to handle it, but the rule is your car cannot be older than 5 years old to drive for Uber. Instead of the battery dying, it would be the transmission.
Oddly enough he probably saved a lot of time and money in the long run not having to get oil changes and deal with gas prices.

Hmmm…. Are you sure you understand the word efficient? Because one of these uses oil and gas, and the other uses nothing except a few cents of electricity. Camry even costs more than model 3. No comparison in cargo or performance or crash safety rating either.
Speaking of efficient. Do you think you can let go of your steering wheel in your Toyota and read a newspaper or eat or sleep as we all have seen Tesla drivers do behind the wheel? Try it and report back with results.

Probably been said but the average mileage of an American is around 10K/year
lol at trying to say people are putting 120K miles on a vehicle in a year and a half.
Insurance would be prohibitively expensive for someone who does food deliveryI only read thread titles and my own posts.

So dude puts 120K on a car in 15 months, and has to spend 8k on a new battery.
If that is the only maintenance he has done, I'd say he is still way ahead.
He is using the car in a worst case environment. Driving it constant all day, so having to rapid charge. Don't really see how this is a knock against Tesla.
It's almost like any vehicle (ICE or EV) isn't all perfect for every situation.440+6 crew; Buccaneers Crew
