Nothing lowers people's IQ more than talking about Telsa lmao
Some of you guys are so threatened you forget to think logically lol. I did not buy my Tesla for environmental reasons. Sure, some do, but not everyone. Kind of painting with a wide brush there. I've got friends who have Tesla's and they think like me.
And, I don't give a fuk how the charging station is powered(I rarely use b/c I own a home and charge there). I don't care if it has a fuking coal engine right there with someone shoveling it in lol. Not all Tesla owners are lib fgts either. And I'm still not paying for gas, and let's be honest, most of you pay a few hundred per month in gas. I pay about $60-80 bucks at home PER MONTH to power my car. I've taken my car on 9, 8 and 5 hour road trips with ZERO issues. Made it back from St Louis to Memphis with only 1 charging stop and it was at a restaurant.
Tesla's sales are as high as ever and they set a new record every year. They make better EV's and some of these others make shyt EV's.
Also, it's the government (Dem's) passing these C.A.F.E. standards that's pushing the EV movement.
My Tesla model 3 performance is a fuking AMAZING daily driver. It runs 11's silently. You have no idea how fun 100% torque with AWD can be when you like going fast. It's a fuking weapon in traffic. It's like driving a fighter jet.You are the only problem you will ever have and YOU are the only solution.

Well, he's half right, which is what I'm saying about it lowering people's IQ. He read half of it and got so excited, he forgot to read the rest.
"Honda Motor (7267.T) and General Motors (GM) (GM.N) are scrapping a plan to jointly develop affordable electric vehicles (EVs), the companies said on Wednesday, just a year after they agreed to work together in a $5 billion effort to try to beat Tesla (TSLA.O) in sales."
lol what drawbacks? And if you think the $80 is extra, well, that lacks logic unless you don't have a car.You are the only problem you will ever have and YOU are the only solution.

the drawbacks of having to devote mental space to worrying about fueling up. there's plenty of days i just get out of my truck (not offered with many evs) that i'm below empty. the next day i might throw in $7 worth of gas in 45 seconds and be good for a few days. there could also be a day where i randomly decide to drive to the beach while being near empty...i stop at a gas station and fill up...then i'm good to go.

You don't know how it works. It works just like a cellphone, do you worry about that? You plug it every night or when you get home and unplug the next day with 230-280 miles. I don't even have to plug in everyday, I can do every other day. Just depends on your commutes.
If you decide to 'go to the beach' you just enter the destination and the car automatically navigates you to the charging stations you'll need to complete your journey. You don't even have to start with a full battery. It will also tell you how long you'll need to charge, which is usually 10-15 minutes. They're almost always near businesses, so you can shop, piss, eat, grab a drink, whatever you want. I've taken mine to my beach condo 3 times and it's 8 hours away. Easy peasy.
Although the supercharger network is good, it could be a little better, but it's growing. I've never had a close call b/c there are plenty of them.
I get it. My last car was a Hellcat Charger and an SRT Charger before that. I've owned 21 cars, most of them 'performance' cars in one way or another. Tesla's are a different experience and I like that for now. I almost bought an Audi RS5 instead, but decided to try something new.
I want a Plaid, but I'm waiting to see if the new 3 has a Plaid version. There's rumors of it being possible. Apparently someone found a Model 3 diagram with a plaid sticker in the new owner's manual or something like that. The new Plaid has new motors, so maybe it could use the old motors. We'll see.You are the only problem you will ever have and YOU are the only solution.

if i had to worry about my cell phone being charged to get anywhere...i'd be fooked on a lot of days. i certainly don't remember to always plug in my cell phone. there are also days where i'm out and it dies because i used it a lot. stranded.
like i said, i don't want to have to worry about taking a certain route to get to the beach so i can hit charging stations. i just want to fuel up once and not worry.
it isn't rocket science to understand how it works.
it's worth ~$80/month to not have charging be a concern.

I get it, and it is a minor drawback really. You'd spend 10 minutes at a gas station if it was a family though with everyone using the bathroom, getting a drink, standing in line. It's a minor setback, but if I told you spend 15 minutes here and I'll give you $75, you'd probably sit there, no? I commute 52 miles/day at least with just work. A performance gas car that uses 93 would cost me around $500/month or more to fill up. That's a huge savings really.
And here's something I never expected. I never thought stopping to get gas was a big deal, just something I had done for 30 years and was whatever. BUT, after not doing it the past year I don't want to EVER do it again lol. I didn't realize how much of an inconvenience that was EVERY SINGLE WEEK.
lol it may not be 'rocket science' but you still don't understand that it is as easy as closing the door when you exit the car. You don't have to "remember" to do it. Plug it in when you exit the car. You literally walk right past the charging port when you exit and your wire will be hanging on the wall beside it.
And you're still not understanding the $80. Take what you spend it gas and subtract the $80 then tell me that number. Is it worth THAT number? It won't be bc you're closed off, but that's ok. As long as you are closed off and know the actual facts, no problem. But don't act like the $80 is EXTRA.
And my "gas station" is at my house lolLast edited by natypes; 11-02-2023 at 08:31 AM.

People citing their cost savings driving Teslas should also cite their purchase price along with the cost of installing charging gear in their house, stuff that people tend to omit when painting as rosy a picture as possible.
Tesla’s vehicle prices are a bit more reasonable now, so hopefully the gas $$$ savings aren’t accompanied by an insane depreciation hit or gross overpayment compared to current prices, but figuring out savings in real terms is still not as simple as saying someone spends hundreds of dollars per month on gas while home charging costs <$100 per month. People who are worried about gas costs should probably be buying used 3-5 years old for much less than what a new Tesla costs, and then gas costs are costs over time and things like cost of borrowing + inflation need to be considered to arrive at a true savings in real terms.

You're right Tesla's are very affordable now, even cheap I'd say. My Tesla was the same price range as the other 2 cars I was considering, Audi RS5 and C7 Z06 Vette (I know lol). And I don't expect any more depreciation than any other vehicle. They're not investments anyway. I had equity on the Colorado I traded in as well. I did buy when cars were more expensive b/c my transmission was having issues and parts were 6 months out, so I had to move quickly.
And I only spent $80 on my home charger. I know that varies person-to-person, but my dryer is 220 and just inside the garage and I just bought a Y for that and the 220 adapter for the charger that comes with the car. I have a small hole in the wall with a pass through installed to keep bugs out.
Also, you have to consider other savings. No oil changes, no coolant, any other fluids. No battery, alternator, starter. The car uses regenerative braking, so brakes won't be quite as often as with tradition ICE cars. You are the only problem you will ever have and YOU are the only solution.
