This after Ford and GM shut down their EV production as well. They're all citing heavy losses and diminishing demand.

EVs are incredibly bad for the environment. Where does the majority of electricity come from to power EVs?
Where do the huge EV batteries go when they're no longer usable?

Nah. Good for you.
But they're going to remain a niche for a long time. It's rare to see someone with 2-3 kids own an EV. There are reasons for that, and they probably have 2 ICE vehicles at home as well. Now is not when EVs are going to see a lot of growth. Car repossessions in general are hitting all-time highs and there's nearly a 100% chance we're going to hit a recession by the 2nd quarter of 2024. Used car dealers are overwhelmed with people asking them if they have any $3-5K cars available.
Also good for you if you have a 3% mortgage. Lots of people do, far more than people who own EVs. But demand for single family homes is facing a similar path as EVs in the coming few years. People are sitting it out. I'd bet most renters are saying "fuk it, I'll wait at least 2 more years before even looking." And millions of would-be sellers are not putting the home they live in up for sale because then they have to go get a 8-9% mortgage if they have great credit. Not to mention millions of people are paying a student loan payment right now for the first time in 3.5 years. That $400 going to Uncle Sam every month again now could have been a monthly payment on a new or used vehicle among the same cohort of people most likely to buy an EV. Instead they're shopping around for $5K petrol burners.
Used cars in general are seeing falling prices. Lots are full of them, and dealers are full of their overpriced new vehicles, with large trucks and SUVs filling their lots to the brim. New vehicles in general are likely to see a big drop in purchasing over the next couple of years. We're going to see a lot more ads of the old days like "$10,000 off MSRP" in 2024-25. All those Trillions of dollars thrown around during the pandemic are gone. Reality is settling in and it's going to have a boomerang effect as it does.Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!

seems like on average a person will spend about $1000/year more on fuel for a ICE vehicle.
for many that's worth it considering you don't have to worry about plugging in, coordinating charging along the way for trips and the luxury of being able to fill up in 5 minutes whenever you want at readily available gas stations.
teslas are also common enough now that they are just another car.

Can the infrastructure even support EV? Texas has a colder than normal winter and they can barely provide any power.
Californias electric grid is trash too. There is a lot of work that needs to be done, and it won't happen when we're giving billions and billions to other countries/proxy wars.Tsar Ivan IV Grozny:
“And if you, having a dog's mouth, want to bark for fun—that's your custom as a serf: it is an honor to you, but it is disgrace for us to think of you, let alone to snarl back at you, and there is naught worse in this world than to bark along with you, and if you want to bark, find yourself a serf like you, and bark with him."
