I was at a funeral saturday and the preacher was talking about Israel and end of times and it just reminded me how much of our christian population are zionist. If you don't go to church, sometimes you forget just how ridiculous christians can be when it comes to israel and its existence.

I went yesterday and Israel was mentioned 10 times with pray for peace while "Lord hear our prayer" was repeated.
To be fair, war in general was met with this prayer, but since israel is special, it is observed all the time now.

Isn't American Zionism predominantly a Christian movement? Jews are actually a fairly small percentage of the population in the Western world, no?


But the Christians calling themselves Zionists interpret the notion fairly stringently. And that means they want to abolish Islam and mass convert Jews to Christianity so Jesus can hurry up and return.

Yeah definitely, there are a bunch of influential Jewish leftists out there. I think it comes down to the intersection of population, money, and political leanings. There are a lot of Jews living in blue states, typically in wealthy areas. They have the same views as the people around them, are often fairly successful, and tend to be passionate about causes (however misguided those causes are). Beyond that I'm not sure why they do it.

I've got no issue with calling out and shaming people who have abhorrent beliefs, and support causes that are harmful for the country. Zero problem with this whatsoever. At the same time, Jews (as an entire world population) have always been targeted as culprits for everything from peoples' personal failures, to black swan events that impact the whole world. I'll never support that because it's based on the fallacy that all people of any demographic share the same views, and therefore should share the blame. It's small-minded myopic thinking, and if we actually want productive change we would be smart to take a more nuanced view on world events.
