played this at release on ps4 like a peasant. it was the only game in my life I bought that was literally unplayable, a blurry slideshow. I felt robbed. got better after a patch and I finished it but was very disappointed with the game as a whole, not even the bugs. gonna feel like a cuck buying again for xbox, lol

Don't trust these reviews. Gonna wait to hear what miscers (besides R3L3NTL3SS) say.

I don't know about IGN
But I remember GameSpot giving it a 7/10 before launch which is reminiscent of their Starfield review lol since it also caused a lot of drama.
Speaking of drama
Luke Stephens, might be one of the most skeptical reviewers out there had this to say after playing update 2.0. and Phantom Liberty
Cliffs on drama:
-CDPR won't allow reviewers to use their own Phantom Liberty footages until 26th (screenshots allowed tho)
-Youtube reviewers are baffled by this because they say it's really good and they've only encountered a few bugs and very minimal performance issues, so they're not sure why CDPR would do this.
-Gameplay footages for update 2.0. are allowed though
If I had to guess:
1) They're actually worried about spoirlers
2) They want their own footages shown across the board which was taken with a super computer with path tracing and everything so the graphics look immaculate, and they don't want some peasant reviewer with a 2060 running on medium settings to ruin that
3) Even though reviewers are saying they've only encountered minimal bugs, CDPR might be worried that some people will clip those bugs and make tons of memes about it since Cyberpunk still has that looming reputation about bugs even though I can say right now that the bugs even before 2.0. are just the same amount I encounter in Witcher 3 and other games.Last edited by M0nsterB0y; 09-20-2023 at 03:35 PM.

Listened to the first half of Luke Stephens' livestream about update 2.0. and Phantom Liberty
Some takeaways:
-Among CDPR expansions he put Hearts of Stone > Phantom Liberty > Blood and Wine
-Asked if Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 + Phantom Liberty released this year, would it be Game of the Year? He said not sure at first but in the end he says Cyberpunk 2077 is like 9/10 now but Baldur's Gate is like 15/10. (I personally would say though, that CP77, even in its current state without update 2.0., with mods is 15/10)
-35:35 Asked if Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 + Phantom Liberty released this year, would it make Starfield look even worse? He says without a doubt, and proceeds on saying that if you play the new Cyberpunk 2077 now from the beginning and into the expansion and then to the ending (expansion adds new ending), you'll see what a true current-gen game is, and it makes it look like Starfield is held together by rubber bands.
-Says that Cyberpunk 2077 2.0. feels more like a sequel than a lot of sequels are and proceeds comparing it to AC Odyssey and Valhalla because the changes that Cyberpunk 2077 received from update 2.0. is more than the changes Valhalla received coming from Odyssey
^Which is why I quoted what OneLegSquats said because if you bought the game early, say half of 2021 which was the point when Cyberpunk 2077 started becoming more polished, at least on PC version, or even late 2022 after the anime, and you thoroughly enjoyed it, then you'll be getting update 2.0. tomorrow for free, and it's like another game, so it's kinda like you got two AAA games for $50
Game have always been very fun starting patch 1.3
So to basically get kind of a new game and it's for free is pretty nutsLast edited by M0nsterB0y; 09-20-2023 at 03:59 PM.

Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

If you're interested in another Phantom Liberty review from an unbiased channel, here's one:
5 months ago he made this video which is a very balanced critique of the base game, which I honestly feel leaned more towards negative and I disagree with a lot of his criticisms, but at least this channel and the one I posted above doesn't suck CDPR or any developer's toes.

this
HoS might've been 9/10 but B&W was absolute perfection
ayyyyyy dasitmane, I got it as well on release (for Xbox)
when I went to pick it up I was amazed at the size of the box lmfao (I was on foot)
it stayed shelved until the next gen update lol
shame there's no physical release accompanying PL, like with the Gwent cards for Witcher+++ miscin' at work crew +++

oooooh .... I checked out my gog launcher just now and was wondering why I didn't get an update for it.
Also lold at cdpr not learning anything and still refusing to let streamer footage be shown.
I'll give this new update a shot and hopefully it might be the one to make me finish the game, but I doubt. I dig the game, but this game falls hard when it comes to the actual RPG element.Sig line can't be a novel
