Star Citizen, the highly ambitious multiplayer space simulation game by Cloud Imperium Games (CIG), recently achieved a crowdfunding budget of $600 million. Despite a decade-long development cycle without a release date in sight, the game’s funding and updates have been accelerating.
Since September, CIG managed to raise $100 million, indicating another successful year for the game. Star Citizen’s funding campaign began in 2012, and although it has missed multiple release windows, 2020 saw a significant increase in cash inflow, according to Player Auctions, which has since been maintained.
May and November are typically the most successful months for Star Citizen each year. In May 2023 alone, the game brought in $20 million during a huge free-to-play event. Much of the funding comes from the sale of virtual ships, some priced at hundreds of dollars. However, during the event, users were able to test all of the ships for free.

Once a year I drop into it just to see it progress. IU dropped only 50 bucks on it and not a dime more way back in 2014,
It's not a scam but the PC specs it requires is insane and the space combat learning curve is very high. I think it will eventually release, but it needs more time in the oven.
It needs a lot of polish, but eventu
