Excited for the season but our schedule is brutal, which is always the case. Beamer exceeded expectations his first two seasons(including a red hot finish last year by beating UT, clemson, and going down to the wire with Notre Dame despite having a patchwork team to play with). This year we won’t sneak up on anyone. We also shouldn’t expect our Special Teams to be able to bail us out so much, though that is a trademark of Beamer Ball. I was extremely underwhelmed with our OC hire, so until he shows me something I’ll remain somewhat skeptical.

I’d say it’ll probably be Ohio State, clemson, So Cal…..and my wildcard for the playoffs is LSU. I think Kelly in year two is ready to take advantage of a somewhat down West. I also thinks it’s somewhat reasonable to say UGA might fall off a little. They’re at the point where they’ve won so much that they may lose a little of their edge.

Pretty sure Alabama has already proven it really doesn't work like that in CFB. Rosters turnover too quickly to cause a team to lose it's edge. After a couple years they're basically a brand new team so there's as much a desire to win as ever for the newcomers.

If you're getting the recruits you'll continue to mog is basically the moral of the story.

Unless Caleb Williams gets hurt again, nothing is stopping USC from making the Playoff.

Pretty much this. 2010s was Bama’s decade. 2020s is Georgia’s.
All it takes is Mookie Betts, Steph Curry, and Joe Burrow all sitting in the same car in order for one drunk driver to make the world a significantly better place.

Alabama is the exception, not the rule. The only team that’s gotten close to that consistency is clemson, but that’s mostly due to recruiting top 5 classes while playing in the ACC. No other teams
have even come close to that. And even Bama never won back to back during the playoff era. Sure UGA will be good, but people tend to underestimate how hard it is to only lose one game in a season in college football, much less do if multiple years in a row.

That's not the point I'm making. It has nothing to do with previous teams winning and the current team growing content. That's a retarded theory when rosters turn over so much. If it actually held true, Bama would have just as easily been susceptible to it. Problem is it doesn't make sense.

Obviously no one wins forever because it's hard. If Georgia falls off it will be because they just got beat. It won't have anything to do with complacency from their players.

Alabama is also the only example because they haven't let anyone else win enough for it to be true. If you look at it on a smaller scale, Ohio State won the Big Ten with 4 straight years of dominance before Michigan taking the last two. They never got tired of winning the Big Ten and got complacent to allow Michigan to take over. Doubt OP is too keen on the theory the only reason they've won is because Ohio State decided they got tired of winning.... lmao at that logic.

Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.

Performance and performance alone dictates the predator in any food chain.

Except teams that hardly or never lose(especially those that don’t get adequately tested frequently) absolutely lose their edge. They think they’re just gonna go in and win because that’s what always happens and because they’re just so good. I’ll take the words of countless coaches and their fights to avoid complacency over what you say. The younger players aren’t “as hungry as ever” if they won championships in their first year. This is even more true as players get substantial paychecks while they eye the NFL. If you don’t think winning tons of games makes players at least somewhat more complacent then fine, we’ll agree to disagree. However just realize you’re also disagreeing with many top coaches.

F$U is absolutely FED UP with getting money mogged by real conferences.

    https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...n?platform=amp

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State President Richard McCullough told his board of trustees during a meeting Wednesday that the university would have to "very seriously" consider leaving the ACC unless there is a radical change to the conference's revenue distribution model.

McCullough addressed the board to give an update on where Florida State stands after a year spent exploring options about what the future holds in the wake of conference realignment and big money television contracts in the Big Ten and SEC. The moves are in line to put ACC schools $30 million behind per year from a TV revenue distribution standpoint.

The ACC recently changed its revenue distribution model to reward success on the field in football and basketball. But Florida State has also pushed for changing the model to reward programs that generate higher television revenue and marketability, areas where FSU believes it has an advantage.

"Our goal would be to continue to stay in the ACC, but staying in the ACC under the current situation is hard for us to figure out how we remain competitive unless there were a major change in the revenue distribution within the conference," McCullough said. "That has not happened. Those discussions are ongoing at all times.

"FSU helps to drive value and will drive value for any partner, but we have spent a year trying to understand how we might fix the issue. There are no easy fixes to this challenge, but a group of us have spent literally a year. We've explored every possible option that you can imagine. The issue at hand is what can we do to allow ourselves to be competitive in football and get what I think is the revenue we deserve?

"This continues to be a very difficult issue. There's a lot going on in the world of conference realignment. My current assessment of the situation after very deep analysis is I believe FSU will have to at some point consider very seriously leaving the ACC unless there were a radical change to the revenue distribution."

McCullough echoed those thoughts in a separate interview with ESPN before the meeting began. "I'm not that optimistic that we'll be able to stay," he said in that interview.

"At some point, we're going to have to do something," McCullough said. "I'm not that optimistic that we'll be able to stay. I just don't know that. It could occur, but something radically different is going to have to happen. All options remain on the table."

The ACC ranks third in revenue behind the Big Ten and SEC, and those projections are not expected to change with a newly expanded Big 12. The conference also has a television contract with ESPN that runs through 2036.

To get out of the league, Florida State would have to pay a $120 million exit fee and go to court to challenge the existing grant of rights, which gives the ACC media rights for its member schools through the length of the contract.

Florida State, along with other schools in the ACC, has studied the contract language in the grant of rights for more a year.

In an interview with ESPN earlier Wednesday, Florida State athletic director Michael Alford said, "We have a great understanding of what opportunities there are in that document. How that document could hold us back, but also what the opportunities are. So this is going to be a discussion. We'll keep getting legal advice. Our legal team has a good understanding of that document."

When asked for a timeline on when Florida State might act, McCullough told ESPN that falling $30 million behind annually is "not a sustainable position for us. The timing for us to do something radical is not known, but it's not 2036."

So which additions do you Big 10 bros want to see??

    https://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...ms-per-report/

Big Ten school presidents authorized commissioner Tony Petitti to explore conference expansion with a focus on Pac-12 members Oregon and Washington, according to ESPN. No formal offers have been made, though according to Action Network, the league is merely sorting through financial aspects at this point as it zeroes in on the potential new additions.

Sources confirmed to CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd on Wednesday that the Big Ten entered exploratory discussions on another round of expansion with four Pac-12 schools -- Oregon, Washington, Cal and Stanford -- on the radar amid growing uncertainty around the Pac-12's future. The Big Ten previously poached USC and UCLA from the Pac-12 with the Los Angeles-based schools set to become Big Ten members on July 1, 2024, bringing conference membership to 16 schools.

Oregon and Washington were identified as the priority targets in the event that the Big Ten seeks to add only two new schools. Cal and Stanford would be next in line if the Big Ten seeks to add four new members and bring its total membership to 20. The Washington Board of Regents is scheduled to conduct a meeting Thursday evening that centers on an executive session "to discuss with counsel present pending or potential litigation." A UW spokesperson, in a statement to the Tacoma News Tribune, said "no action will be taken" during the meeting.

In a statement to CBS Sports on Wednesday, the Big Ten said it's "still focused on integration of USC and UCLA, but it's also the commissioner's job to keep conference chancellors and presidents informed about new developments as they occur."

The Big Ten's exploration into another round of expansion comes as the Pac-12 has lost three members in the last 13 months. Colorado became the third Pac-12 school to defect when the Buffaloes announced they will return to the Big 12 ahead of the 2024 season. The Pac-12 also is still without a media rights deal secured beyond the upcoming 2023-24 season, and while commissioner George Kliavkoff presented a deal to member schools Tuesday, no agreement was reached.

So Pac 12 is unofficially dead. I wonder if the ACC will be next, or if they’ll be able to hold it together.

Even with all the rules changed regarding paying players…NCAA still going full nuclear Karen with regards to stupid ass rules. Lold at “having too many coaches on the field”.

    https://www.cbssports.com/college-fo...esolution/amp/

Harbaugh is accused of providing false or misleading information to the NCAA, which is considered a Level I violation. The NCAA initially launched an investigation into alleged Level II violations made by Michigan's staff during an NCAA-mandated COVID-19 recruiting dead period 2021. Among them: Harbaugh contacted two prospects during the dead period and held Michigan practices with too many coaches on the field.

A potential resolution to the matter broke down in January when Harbaugh denied lying to investigators. Though Harbaugh admitted some Level II violations occurred, he remains adamant that didn't intend to mislead investigators.

Amid his saga with the NCAA, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh will step away from the sidelines for a portion of the Wolverines' 2023 season after all. Despite recent expectations that Harbaugh would coach the entire season with his NCAA case not yet resolved, Michigan has instead imposed a three-game suspension for Harbaugh to start the season as punishment for a Level I violation, the school announced Monday.

"While the ongoing NCAA matter continues through the NCAA process, today's announcement is our way of addressing mistakes that our department has agreed to in an attempt to further that process," Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement. "We will continue to support coach Harbaugh, his staff, and our outstanding student-athletes. Per the NCAA's guidelines, we cannot comment further until the matter is resolved."

He opens at #14 Utah Thursday night on National Television. I wish him well, as effort was never an issue. But if he fumbles all over the field he's Florida's deal now.
