Midwest Bros (O-H-I-O) - Cincinnati or Columbus?

I'm looking at places over here, and Cincinnati looks REALLY nice by comparison.

Am I looking at the wrong areas? Where should I be looking?

It seems like any random spot I pick in Cincinnati is very nice. While Columbus is hit or miss and I happen to look at ghetto areas more often than not. But I have read online and it says that Columbus is the best of the 3 Cs (Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland) with Cleveland being the worst of the 3.

I'm just wondering because I want to vacation over there just to see how it's like, but am planning many months from now, or maybe next year who knows.

I'm in Columbus...a lot of it is pretty damn ghetto. I've honestly never even been to Cincinnati, so can't comment on it.

I’ve been to all 3 Ohio big cities and honestly Columbus was the chittiest. Maybe I just hit the wrong parts, but I remember pulling off the highway and ending up in the most disgusting White ghetto I’ve ever seen in my life. Everyone was a zoned out junkie. Felt like everyone was coated in ********. Filthy streets. I think it was the southern part of the city of I-71. Downtown was dirty too, strong Rust Belt vibes. Not sure why people are moving there. I know it has the fastest population growth in the state. No thanks Jeff (and no offense to Polaris).

Cincinnati is BY FAR the healthiest looking metro. Downtown is pretty vibrant with some new developments and an aesthetic skyline. There’s more optimism in the air, easy going people. You can tell it’s the wealthiest city of the 3. There’s an upscale suburb north of the city with some condo towers and luxury mall. Reminds me of a mix between Pittsburgh and Louisville with a splash of new money Sunbelt flair.

Cleveland is honestly my favorite though. I know it’s objectively a ghetto chithole, but there’s a certain edge to it that I appreciate. Cleveland has character. It has history. It has a deep personality. The neighborhoods are unique. It’s got more of a Northeastern feel like I’m used to. University Circle and Little Italy are some dope neighborhoods. Old school Italians all over, felt safe. Downtown is hit or miss but reminds me of a larger Buffalo. Cool place to hang out for the day. The mistake on the lake is an under appreciated place IMO.

Im looking at houses there too, and Cincinnati looks amazing and even cheaper than Columbus, it's so green and lots of trees. I was looking at the city and I cannot find a ghetto when I randomly pick areas (are you aware of any). I read articles online that said Cincinnati is more dangerous and higher crime, but how? It doesn't look it.

It is a much nicer city overall, but like every other major city, it has its share of poor black neighborhoods that drive up the crime rate.

Cincinnati for the win. Columbus is boring in comparison. Cincinnati is also closer to the smoky mountains and south in general. Has more of a moderate climate. If you are into sports, its pretty much becoming a big time sports city with the bengals looking at a superbowl win soon.

I don't know what you want exactly, but me personally...I consider some of the further south east areas like Pickerington or Canal Winchester. There's parts where things get less "urban" and more rural or small town (parts of them anyway) like. Pretty much citywide, the demographics are...less than desirable. New Albany if you're down to spend the money, and be further away from stuff, would be another example of a nice area.

Lived in Cincy until I was 10. Then moved into rural area an hour south of Columbus.
Then moved to Hilliard which is a western suburb of Columbus for 10yrs and finally settled about 40 mins west of Columbus I a in a private rural neighborhood.

Cincy has a lot more culture with all the German and Irish heritage, Columbus seems like it has no history. But Columbus has a brighter economic future with Honda, Nationwide and huge new Intel facility.

    I’d move to Cincy lol

The downtowns of each city are pretty nice. All have their ups and downs etc. I currently live in the middle of no where between Cleveland & Columbus - so its nice having the rural aspect, but also being fairly close to each major city.

But hey.. c'mon we're all supposed to be CEOS & 10k a day! Go get yourself one of those baller houses on Lake Erie my man
