Nazi Germany already tried it before they started exterminating the Jews. They mandated executions for disabled and old people. It was a eugenics thing. Didn't end well for them... USA does it too in a way. Not forced eugenics, but 9/10 fetuses with down syndrome get aborted. So our society very much encourages eugenics.

It is hard to define what is "mentally weak".

For instance, I hate "OCD" people a great deal.

However, OCD people are great at cleaning toilets. Meanwhile, I don't care about cleaning toilets.

There was a comedy science fiction book series called The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

One joke that that there was a civilization of really smart people and they developed space travel and left all the "tradies" behind to go smart a planet for only smart people. They ended up all dying because there was no one on their new planet to clean the toilets.

That little joke taught me a lesson.

There are honestly useless types but that would have to be well thought out.
