Feeding some sense into me. We didn't meet eye to eye when I was younger either, and still don't agree on many things but his advice and wisdom continues to keep me grounded and realize how important his words were back then.

My grandpa, my father's dad was a rice farmer. I spent a lot of time helping him in my summer vacation when I was a low teen. My best friends were chickens!
Missed him a lot.
I always love Postmen. They are heroes!!
Have you and your dad seen this one?

I think he was able to do that because of you. You are the best thing that happened to you. Happiness depends on a person and his/her principles so it might not be applied to others but in your case, I really think his life has been a happy one because of you.
The proof is the love and affection you feel towards him.
I wish someday my daughter feels the same way you do. *bow*
Just one thing I want to ask you about.
You say both "my parents" and "a single dad" in the same sentence, what happened to your mom?
Who did prepare your meals and take care of things at home when you were a kid?
You don't have to answer that question if you don't want to.
Either way, I hope your dream comes true someday.🌺 Lauren Brooks Kelly (snailsrus) - Jul 25, 1991 – Jan 29, 2022

My dad was some sort of chemist. Idk how he got that job, never got a degree in it.. or frankly any college for that matter. my mom said she kinda stretched the truth on his resume and with his military experience they hired him lol.
He was super well liked in his area, eventually rose the ranks and made some really good $$.. had his choice between 5 different locations where he wanted to take over a team and chose the wrong one in the end.
Lots of backstabbing, different corporate environment than the one in Texas where we previously were and he was pretty miserable. Eventually got into it with his boss and decided he didn't wanna stay there anymore, and quit
I'll always respect him for continuing to go to a job that he really didn't like in order to provide for us. Looking back he would try and tell us about his day and whatever machine/team he was overseeing and some new innovation and we kinda blew him off. It's come full circle cause I wanna tell people about random things about my job and I remember how when I was a kid I didn't give AF so I know my girl and family don't care either when I have a story I wanna tell. 😂
RIP pops. Wish he would have chose something that made him happy

Father is a Nephrologist. So he deals with the kidneys and those who need Dialysis. He has been practicing for well over 50 years. Mother is a retired ICU Critical Care Nurse Specialist of over 25 years. She dealt with specialized care such as wound vacs, balloon pumps, and other stuff like that. Towards the end of her career she helped in creating the Electronic Medical Records system that the local county hospital uses when everyone was switching from paper to electronic records. Shame the county wanted to do things their own way and basically shat on her. Makes my blood boil that 99% of those in charge of making decisions for various fields typically no longer practice in those fields anymore. They make all of the decisions without having a clue WTF is actually happening. The world would operate a lot smoother if people on boards or bosses still actually did the same work their employees do instead of being halfway in the door.

My father, a lot younger than yours, would be 91 if he were still alive but he was the same way.
He was all action and no talk.
He hadn't bought anything and he build everything from scratch by himself, tools and even a small cabin with electricity and plumbing.
He was not only a soldier but anyone he could be if he so wanted to be.
Fortunately, he chose to be my mother's husband and my father.
Thanks for sharing, my respect. *bow*🌺 Lauren Brooks Kelly (snailsrus) - Jul 25, 1991 – Jan 29, 2022

From what I gather, like movies and novels, hunting is one of those things by which a father and sons make a strong bond all over the world except for Japan. (Here, it's much more tightly controlled than it is in the US.)
I wish I had that kind of male bond built by sharing the same experiences in the wild together with my late father.

All through those years, he's been raising and supporting you.
You do what you believe is the best for you and your beloved ones and your father definitely would approve your decision.
I hope my daughter has learned something from whatever she saw in me.
Thanks for sharing a great story.🌺 Lauren Brooks Kelly (snailsrus) - Jul 25, 1991 – Jan 29, 2022
