    Yes, I bought my last house in 2021, was the first to the first open house, told them I'd give them $25k over asking if they closed shop then and there. They actually did. I've actually just rented that last house, for $4100 a month. Tenants move in May first.

    To clarify, my first house was a very small condo, and the mortgage was like $1400. I worked from home then and did a lot of overtime.

    Back in the 80s, the average price of a home was about maybe 2 years average salary, at MOST.

    Today, the average salary in America is around $60K while the average house is $500K, that's about 8x the average salary.

    How about don't buy the average house then? There are condos everywhere for $100k or a bit more. Sure you'll have a commute, and sure the condo won't be as big as you'd like. But people have to start somewhere. And that's what most of these people now don't get. They cry about not being able to afford a house because they can't go straight to a million dollar mcmansion.
