This young man was sentenced to 10 years in prison because he a the age of 17 received oral sex from a consenting 15 yar old.
Americans...please...for the love of GOD please write to Georgia legislators, please write to ALL Georgia decisionmakers, and get this sentenced reduced big time.
That's right...10 years.
Please, for the love of God...this is a man's life, everything he is.

In part because of the publicity surrounding this case, the law under which Wilson was convicted was changed after his conviction; the act would now be treated as a misdemeanor with a maximal sentence of one year in prison, and no sex offender registration. This change however was not made retroactive.

The conviction was based on an amateur video tape showing Wilson and some of his friends engaging in sex with a 17 year old during a private party, and later receiving oral sex from the 15 year old.[2][3] The video shows the 17 year old girl on the bathroom floor, then later having sex with Wilson. She appeared sleepy or intoxicated during the sex act but did not ask Wilson to stop. [4] Waking up naked and in a stupor the next morning, she claimed to have been raped.[3] Investigating the alleged rape, police later found condoms, evidence of drinking as well as the video camera in the motel room used for the party.[4]

Well, I'd say that makes the case a little bit different. If she claims to have been raped and there is actual video proof of her being completely sh*tfaced while some guy takes advantage of her I would hope that the guy in question faces some sort of penalty. I believe in high sentences for people who kill others, rob, steal, rape
But you know what? My morality does not allow for a young man who made ONE BLUNDER where the victim does NOT want him imprisoned to have his life ruined by a grotesque sentence.
10 years? 10 years? Do you understand how much that is out of a life span?

For me the fact that she insists on it being consentual is enough not to give him 10 years.But if it was completely consensual, I could really care less.

Listen, I do not support low sentences. In my country the sentences are far too low. But this is just out of line given the circumstances!
You support completely irrational punishment. The bill sent to his family??? And what crime did THEY commit?

ok ok guys... there are 2 different girls in the video... the grand jury/prosecution decided that girl 1 (the girl who appeared drunk and claimed rape) consented and didn't bring any charges based on this, now we are left with girl 2, a 15yr old at the time, who consented, has said ever since that she consented, and has begged that he be released because his "crime" doesn't make sense. She willingly as a minor, gave another minor a BJ, and he was sentanced to 10yrs for this, making the case even more screwed up is the fact that under the old state law, had he instead had sex with her not gotten a BJ, he would have been given probation or a max of 1-2yrs...
bottom line, the case is screwed up and while I agree wholeheartedly with those who say that people who sleep with drunk chicks need to be prosecuted, the bottom line is that those who saw more than we did ruled that she was not to inebriated to consent in the case of girl 1, and the whole of the sentance comes from the idiocy of the law in regards to the action with girl 2...A diplomat . . . is a person who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you actually look forward to the trip. - Caskie Stinnett

Tough ****. He committed a crime and got the minimum sentence the law provided. Maybe next time he'll be a little smarter.
