OP, you are as bad as Brandon. I had a feeling you were going to air this one, and not say chit about the entire family that was massacred in CA last week by what appears to be a cartel hit squad.
Among the people executed were a 75 year old grand mother, a 16 year old girl and her 10 month old son. All shot in the head. The girl had escaped from the house and they killed her and her baby down the road.Authentic Knights Swing Heavy Steel and Have Hands and Wrists of Steel!

If you get all your news from OP on a bodybuilding forum you are only being subjected to selective news.
How many days since a mass thieft?
How long will we last if this continues? No one uses guns here, only threats and force and citizens who comply to bullies.

You blaming problems of today on the NRA?
Guns were just as accessible, possibly more when I was in high school. Ammo could be bought off open shelves at many sporting goods stores. Kids brought rifles and shot guns to school. As they might hunt before or after.
So what has changed? And, how is that anyway the fault of the NRA?
The problem with anti-gun and many left arguments, is they completely ignore the ideas of PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. That extends to raising a family and teaching your kids what is right and wrong.RAW lifts

It is ***one of many factors***, they paid politicians here for decades and no one stopped them.
So i add it to my list of many factors.
No one is ignoring personal responsibility at all just stating that they had an impact.
Most political arguments have a list of reasons for X and i was naming 1 of many. There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

OK....but again. If guns and ammo were more accessible 35 years ago, and these problems did not exist, how in ANY way has the NRA contributed to the current situation? Regardless of what they have 'done'.
Promoting and protecting gun ownership and accessibility to guns cant be a contributing factor since we both have lived in a time when they were much more accessible and these issues did not exist.RAW lifts

The NRA didn't pull that trigger. The NRA didn't bring a real gun on the set. The NRA didn't bring real bullets to the set. The NRA has no influence on any movie set.
How is the NRA in this conversation at all?
I am not protecting the NRA. No defense needed, but the above is ridiculous.Last edited by Mark1T; 01-23-2023 at 08:21 AM.

Personally i find that their promotion and influence on politicians for decades allowed for the sheer numbers that exist today.
It is akin to play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Now we cant "roll them back" so you must have one, in my opinion.
Again 1 of many factors, not just 1 factor.
This is why i am now in favor of gun ownership.
35 years ago i would argue that there were less available, a different society, so less of "my wife left me so lets kill 10 people" or kill our entire family including our kids and wife which i see now. There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

Again, sorry to bust your bubble, but you are ranting and repeating many of the straw hat arguments that those on the left do. This just distracts.
Gun ownership (per household) has been on the decline for decades. So again how do guns, or their accessibility serve as ANY part of an argument for the rise of mass shootings as a causal factor?
https://www.rand.org/research/gun-po...ownership.html
"BAD" NRA spent 2 mil total in 2021. Big Pharma....in first quater spent 92 mil
1991-2018 3000% increase in use of antidepressants.
Anyone want to talk about the effect of mass distribution of psychoactive drugs to youth and others? Any connections with mass shootings?
Nah....easier to blame the NRARAW lifts

You have to look to history to answer that question. I dont think the background checks themselves are the true point of contention. It is the idea that many on the left will not stop until they take all gun rights. So the other side has taken the stance that they cant concede on any item.
The true motives of the left are clear, and if history serves an indicator of the future, they will erode over time never stopping until their goals are reached. In that context, I understand, although I too agree that there are some 'common sense' items that could be addressed.
But again, one has to see if about the COUNTLESS gun laws that exist but are not properly enforced. And just what if any legislation will have a MEANINGFUL effect on curbing that actual issues at hand. In many cases, much of the proposed restrictions would have had little to no effect.RAW lifts

Again, sorry to burst your bubble but it is an opinion..... regarding the distribution increase since we were kids when it was safer and where we are today in society.
I don't read talking points and have no idea where to find any if i wanted some, but what i do know is that marketing, sales, and ownership have increased since this mass shooting phenomenon became a thing in society.
"ranting and repeating" dude, i am calm and you are projecting feelings that don't exist by me.
The 49ers won and i am smiling; its just an opinion on a dying bb board on 1 factor( my personal opinion) in the gun debate.
n=1 ("BAD" NRA spent 2 mil total in 2021.)
"formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. "
Your Rand chart is *reported guns* not the ones that are NOT REPORTED, SO we have an undercount going on.
Who brought them here and where they originated is up for debate.
I am fully aware that the USA uses 66% of the worlds antidepressants, and have known this for 5 years.
Rather than a debate, post your reasons for this besides parents( gun violence), it would be a better, more constructive, use of time and we can find some common ground here.
Agree to disagree on the NRA, and we can agree on drugs and parenting.
What else makes a guy kill his 3 kids his wife and them himself?
What makes a man kill 10 dancers then himself?

No I meant 35 years ago. I bought a rifle at 18. I had high capacity mags that I ordered from a mail order place. I used to buy ammo all the time at a store about 10 min bike ride from my home. Many many people that I knew had guns in their cars in highschool. (I graduated in 91). Guns were very easy to get and all around when I grew up.

I cant tell you what would make someone do this. BUT, I can 100% tell you what did not make him do it. THE GUN.
The issue I have is all the energy directed at guns or the NRA distracts from what the real causal factors may be. And it is likely a combination of societal issues. But it is not the gun itself.RAW lifts

random thoughts regarding several posts above
(you may want to skip over this)
ID says that he does not think the background checks themselves are the true point of contention
if that were true, there would be background checks, as the majority supports them. Again I'll say that law abiding, trained, responsible gun owners should have no issue with background checks, and only those who would not pass background check should be against them
Gun ownership per household cannot possibly be going down over the decades. OK maybe per household, but certainly not total guns in circulation (legal and illegal). Noted re: point on "reported guns"
Regarding antidepressants, I'm sure there is a large percentage of "prescribed", that are used recreationally. I concede that overprescription is a reality, as with opioids
Politicians weigh polls against political contributions, and when not clear which is more advantageous, will always choose contributions. This is why solutions are not forthcoming .... but .... in a democratic society, where the majority gets to make the rules, when the tipping point has been met .... meaning when enough people are directly affected by gun violence, the laws will change
The 2nd amendment is by definition an amendment, and someday will again be amended
The left taking guns away
regardless of whether this is a reality or not
it is independent of keeping guns away from those who should not have them
the right to own a firearm
vs
the right to not get shot by accident or intention
majority rules
and at this pace of killing
someday the majority will require solutions
Regarding the toddler walking around the apartment hallway with a loaded 9mm
The Fundamental NRA Rules for safe gun handling are clear on storage
https://handgunlaw.us/documents/GunSafety.pdf
so if you support the NRA, you support their rules
open carry and "assault style" weapons were certainly an issue for the NRA when the Black Panthers were armed with AK47s in 60's
my how times change
Yes the gun didn't make 72-year-old Huu Can Tran kill those people, but if he shouldn't have had one, he shouldn't have been able to buy one. I'll note that he was making homemade silencers (first clue he should not have been able to buy them)
feel free to not respond cause I don't really care if anyone doesI don't necessarily agree with everything I say.
