The only gym idiot thing I do right now is skip leg day... But hold on!! It's actually for a good reason...
Having spinal surgery on the 28th of March, so literally am a upper body brah right now. (well, unless you count an hour of cycling once a week.... probably not though eh?)

My gym is pretty cool.. No idiots really, and its tolerant of people that might not know exactly what they are doing from the second they walk in...

I suppose my other idiot moment was not realising who this guy was.... (Terry Hollands: WSM 3rd place, 2012)

And yes thats the ratty little gym that I use! Love it =)

Idk if it's just me but one thing that REALLY pisses me off is when people scream and slam their weights around so that people pay attention to them. Obviously hella heavy deadlifts and times when you can't help but make noise with your weights are an exception, but if you can scream you're not trying hard enough. Anyway that being said there was some dude at the gym who took the squat rack next to me and immediately put on my working weight, which is cool and all like that's his deal, except the entire time he's staring me down.. So I keep doing my thing and he starts his set and just screams as if somebody twisted his sack a few times over.. Worst part was he wasn't even doing half squats, maybe going down about HALF of a half squat (quarter squat..?) While I'm going all the way down with my full, non-bitch squats. Then he starts counting his weight out loud like really loudly so I can hear him and continues doing his loud obnoxious ****.

it was more obnoxious in real life...

Also another time some old dude kept trying to rub my ass while I was deadlifting. That one was weird, said he had parkinsons or assburgers or something.

I did. Both when I first posted and again just now

    http://www.livestrong.com/article/22...start-to-drop/
    http://www.askmen.com/daily/austin_1...ion_style.html
http://www.mens-hormonal-health.com/...ne-levels.html (this one is interesting, it breaks down total vs free test, free test being what's relevant to the conversation)

That got me interested in finding out more, as it seemed I was more ignorant of the topic that I thought.

I read information from over a dozen sites, and basically it appears as though total testosterone can increase well into your 30s, but free testosterone levels (on average) drop around age 30. I was unable to find any studies on the average change in bio-available testosterone, but my guess is that because it is technically bound testosterone, it just gets counted as such. In either case, since free test is unbound and active, that is all that is relevant for the sake of building new muscle.

Thank you for the post though, I learned something new this morning. Always a good feeling when that happens!

Whilst on the bench yesterday there was a guy very close to my right doing a motion that could only be described as a bent over weighted sideways punch (he was punching out to the side). He was using a light weight and punching with such ferocity that I was frightened that he was going to lose his grip on the weight and send it flying towards me. Thankfully he only appeared to do one set, before going over to "spot" his friend...

Hilarious thread, I must contribute. Last week some noob started trying to get my attention through the mirror to ask me if I was using a bench next to me during my last few reps of a heavy and intense set of DB hammer curls. Right in the middle of a set! A heavy, final, balls to the wall, last few reps, gritting my teeth set! I ignored his ass, kept my concentration, and finished the drill before acknowledging him and saying I wasn't using the bench in question. I was nice about it, and he seemed like a nice guy, but C'MON MAN!

Saw one the other day I just had to shake my head at. A guy was using one of the power cages and bumper weights to do overhead presses. After his last set he lets the weight drop from full press position to the ground. I understand the purpose of bumper weights, but there was a bench less than 5 feet from the cage he was lifting in. The weights hit the ground, and bounced into the lower leg/ankle of one of the guys using the bench. I would have been pretty pissed if I had been the guy who got hit, but he just kind of stood there with a look of disbelief on his face.

The video is hilarious. I almost pissed myself laughing. There's this guy who comes in and plays this handheld video game when he works out, looks a lot like that... like he'll do 1-2 reps of shoulder db press say, then put them down (5 lbs mind you) and play his game for 5-10, then do a couple more... hogging equipment to play his game on. He's been told many times but the gym owner allows him to stay as he's a paying member. Go figure.

Correct. I was a lazy and out of shape through my 20s. Which is the point I was making earlier. I did in fact waste those years. You are not. You are putting in hard work, and have been doing so longer than me. So yes, that gives you the advantage.

Yes. Basically, the bare minimum. Your muscles react to the stimulation you provide them. All I did prior to last year was get my fat ass off the couch and walk up stairs. This explains why my lower body is more developed than my upper body. Your muscles only develop to the point at which they are needed. All mine needed to do was get me off the couch. Once they could do that, they stopped growing. It's the equivalent of curling the same weight for the same sets and reps for 6 months. Will any gains happen past a certain point?
You're arguing with a retarded kid that still believes it's the 1900s. That's really just a mean thing to do.

I'm not certain why I thought I could have a civil debate over the internet with a 17 year old. Wishful thinking I suppose.

I see the problem. You're mature enough to want to show a young man the right path because it's the right thing to do, you just picked the wrong kid. You picked the dude that's surfing bb.com whilst between sets of curls being performed in a squat rack. You and I are old enough to know you can fix a body that you've neglected over the years, but you can't fix an IQ of 80.
