"Floaters" in the pool drive me crazy.. it only has 3 lanes and it seems two of them are always taken up by old people who are leisurely floating around on one of those styrofoam noodles. This isn't a $@%# lazy river, it's a lap pool!

Just got back from the gym today and it was my 1st day of Jim Wendler's 5/3/1.
I work out at the Air Force base where I live and the gym is pretty small but has everything you need.
The gym was pretty quiet as it was Sunday morning and I am starting off with my military press, There are no other standing racks, just 1 power rack, so, in an empty gym I decide to use the power rack instead of using the pre-fabbed weight barbells on a rack.
I am half way through my workout and some guy comes in, I see him take notice I was in the rack and assumed he wanted to get in some squats, I didn't take much time between my last 2 sets and hurried through them because he was pacing behind me the entire time checking his watch and smacking his workout log bog on his hand as if being impatient.
I deload the bar and move on to do my chins and dips, I didn't pay too much attention to him until I went to grab a wet wipe for where I was doing dips and noticed he was doing CURLS in the power rack!!!!!!
I just shook my head but then wondered if I was also a gym idiot for using a power rack for standing press instead of the pre-fabbed weight bars?
Who gets MAD at somebody for using the power rack because you want to get your 65lb curls in? A gym idiot!**CAN Army Veteran**

Back and biceps are pulling, chest and tri are pushing. Ex. rows work back and bi while bench press works chest and tri.

If you work out your upper body only for 15 years straight taking steroids at times and only gain 1 stone on your upper body in all those years (1lb per year) and in all that time never even go to a real gym anyway - you are officially a gym idiot.
If you eat chocolate, biscuits, potato chips, galaxy/mars "drinks", pot noodles whilst also criticizing other people's diets and claiming to have a good clean diet yourself, never even go to a gym and spout exaggerated bench press figures even a 4 year old child would know is not true for a guy your size - you are officially a gym idiot.
If you smoke but pretend you're not addicted to it and pretend you are some sort of super-human, above getting damaged from it, you are a gym idiot.
Yeah, I am talking about someone I know very well IRL, a great pretender, lets leave it at that.Last edited by Manc33; 06-11-2012 at 05:02 AM.

I was timing a 10k on the threadmill and there was some stupid visalus body by vi meeting in the yoga room. I had my music on and I feel tap on my shoulder. It's was the visalus rep. Nobody was attending the meeting and he asked if I was interested to listen to his crap. I said no and I added that I didn't think his meal replacement shake was a good thing and he asked why.... I'm running &%?&&....
The minute I was done with my 10k he comes back to me and ask for explanation while I'm cleaning the machine. I asked if, at least, they provided nutrition tips on what to eat, count calories etc and he said no. So I said that's the problem you sell meal replacement products to fat woman and of course they will lose weight they just eat a dam shake, but they will all gain it back in a less than a month after they lost 30 pounds. He basicaly said that's fine because they will because another month of products.... I left..☆ ☆ QUEBEC CREW ☆ ☆

Yeah you always have to find your own way, its hard for beginners to ignore "Get 6 pack abs in 2 weeks" and so on, but they DO believe it.
Like the rep you just said, he wasn't bothered about making people feel better, he just wants a monthly subscription.
The marketeers call this "repeat sales" in the boardroom.
Just don't get me started on the pharmaceutical industry...
Yours should be on the list...

What are your opinions on people bringing notepads to record their lifts? I never used to do it and didn't really care either way if other people did, I actually saw it as them being more dedicated. I started making a log about a week or two ago and bringing it so I could remember my exact weights when I microload and one of my "friends" (not really friend, just a guy I talk to now and then) said that kinda makes you look like a tool.
I was just like 'whatever man worry about yourself' and walked away.

I bring a notepad, actually it's a small binder.
My 5/3/1 spreadsheets are printed out and I have my months workouts in page protectors, I record my rep PR's for my last set, I also have important notes on form for different lifts so there is nothing I leave out when lifting.
I don't care if it makes me look like a tool, I guess I could just remember everything then go home and record it all, but who cares? I like to be organized. I go to the gym for me and not for other people.**CAN Army Veteran**

Don't read this if your eating grossness ahead!
I debate sometimes to give up my membership at 24. If it's not the "Only Us" rude vibe I get from people at my gym, it's the disgusting people I see in the locker room. I passed by this young obese kid who just came out of the bathroom stall. I really had to go but after what i saw I decided to risk kidney failure and use the fast food place across the way, not only did this gross kid not flush the toilet he was walking around barefoot cleaning his nose and shaking his homies hands. 50 bucks a month for this!??????
"How much do you think Joe Rogan would offer to lick that boys toes clean?"
Sadly, I went to my friends home later that night and she was serving meatloaf. It was good meat loaf, but I just kept seeing Joe Rogans face amidst the silverware taunting me!
I know, but there are some things you just can't get out of your head, like why anyone would walk around on a floor coated in lord knows what with no shoes on!! Think I have a lawsuit? They never fix that toilet, it always backs up, and I can't eat chili-burgers and meatloaf anymore!Last edited by GhostAvenger620; 06-14-2012 at 04:09 PM.

Ive seen a lot of posts on here about people doing curls in the squat racks, today I witnessed something possibly worse. I'm doing my last working set of bent over BB rows and this guy comes up to the rack directly beside me ( all other racks are open) and proceeds to do forearm curls with the unloaded bar...

This was a new one. Two younger guys, probably 17-18, completely ignore the 6 or 7 adjustable and stationary benches with straight backs that are all open, and proceed to take the barbell off of the one seated overhead press station in the gym and do their dumbbell shoulder presses there. what made it even worse was the morons were using way too much weight, and would do "sets" of one very assisted rep. took them about 20 minutes to finish up.

Last week I was at the gym. When I walked in there were 3 girls, about 16 years old, sitting on the floor mats, glued to their phones and sipping away at a 1000 calorie starbuck drink.
I went and took care of the first half of my routine for the day, when I come around the corner I see these girls on the treadmills - standing still.
Later I walk back around the corner and these girls are playing around on the pullup/dip rack. I walk over to them and ask if they mind letting me get a few sets of squats in.
"Sure!" they replied.
I facepalmed.

How about finding weight cuffs on the Smith machine? I would have loved to see when it was done.
