Some lady starts singing at the top of her lungs while she's on the exercise bike (pedaling intensely mind you)

Today someone was taking up the squat rack doing inverted rows. He did 5 sets of 8 with about 3 minutes rest between sets. I was deadlifting so I didn't need the rack but it still made me upset.

If I really want to piss people off, I go to to the bench press machine and start curling that bar and If I'm feeling crazy I'll throw in a few squats as well

I have skimmed through quite a few pages on this thread and thought I'd contribute a few of my favorite moments of gym idiocy.
1) all the DBs in my gym are racked along one long wall at my gym, naturally the DBs are arranged in order of weight, so the distance between lets say the 10 lb DBs and the 100 lb DBs is quite far. I am doing seated DB press with a fairly heavy weight about 3/4ths of the way down the line and once I'm finished I begin to walk the weights back to their home (proper rack). the gym is completely empty, 7 am, and the path between the benches and DB racks in quite narrow. There is a man holding onto 10 lb DBs, not lifting them HOLDING them, standing in my way and although he sees me holding onto heavy DBs he decides I can wait for him to do one more set of raises before I can proceed past him to rack the weights. Apparently he could not be bothered to just step between benches with his heavy pay load of a whopping 20 lbs.
2) Cross fit guy. He comes in during the lunch hour rush and attempts to circuit train using several stations. He then proceeds to yell at people who mistake one of his empty stations for an open station.

Half-reppers that walk around the gym like they're the strongest guys in there. Saw some guy get a dip belt, put 2 45's on it, and proceed to do what looked to be about an 1/8" range of motion. I could almost bet I've seen a statue do more range of motion than he did. He hopped off and high fived his equally dumb workout partner.

For the past year there is always one man in the gym no matter what time I show up, early AM or afterwork doesn't matter. He is always on the elliptical(sp? don't care) going rediculously fast, with 5lb DB's in each hand.
He is on there for hours, no change in body composistion, nothing. I guess he is not really a gym idiot, I have just always found this interesting.
Now here is story from a few years back. Me and my new-to-training partner were at an old gym that has since closed down. We walk over to the squat rack to do squats (of coarse) and see an old guy in front of the rack with all sorts of powders and straps on the ground. He is sniffing what smells like vicks vapor rub and doing the weirdest breathing techniques I have ever seen. We ask the gentelman how much longer he has left and he just chuckles and says " this long day hasn't even begun". He tells us we can work in if we would like (maybe had 10lb plates on each side). My buddy thinking he is a bad ass tells the old man that we're here to lift weight and not dick around" (more of an aquaintance). He goes right back to his breathing practice and begins wrapping his knees. We go on with our workout and I casually walk back by a few times. I notice this old man squatting lower than anyone I have ever seen, and also noticed he now had about 225 on the bar. Times goes by and I walk by the rack again. Now with 405 on the bar this guy is going rediculously slow with long pauses at the bottom. I'm talking bar bending, no shaking, 70 year old man squatting 405 and hitting his ass on the ground (was up to 5 plates as we were leaving). Needless to say I was more than impressed. Over the next few gym sessions I started talking with and getting advice from old barry. Turns out him and his brother were powerlifters from Russia their whole life and both competed on the olympic team. Barry taught me tons about lifting and more importantly about warming up. He would seriously be in the gym for 5 hours doing squats, full sweats everytime.
Needless to say, my "buddy" was more than a gym idiot to this guy and I guarentee that "old man" can squat and dead more than anyone I know.

I have some Adidas sweatshirts that I wear for almost all my workouts (weightlifting anyway). They are the "performance" material. I think it's probably down to preference. I like it, but I don't do it for any other reason than that. I sweat like a maniac no matter what I wear...
Side note: The other day as I was putting on my sweatshirt before we went to the gym, my fiance said "you look amazing, you should wear that." (referring to the shirt i was wearing) I was confused for a second and said ok and didn't wear my sweatshirt. Happy wife, happy life haha. I thought she was implying my sweatshirt stunk or something. Turns out she thought I was self conscious and was wearing it to cover up. So that might play a factor.Last edited by bru_05; 06-01-2012 at 10:33 AM.

i wanted to do some incline DB presses, but there was a girl using 1 of only 2 adjustable benches in the gym... to put all her crap on (ie pretty little "gym" bag, and other useless crap) while she was using the the DB rack to do tricep kickbacks with a huge weight of 5lbs, that'll tone ya up!

Here is a list of things I see most often at my gym. I don't go at peak hours so thank God.
- Dudes wearing ******* ass and/or douche bag attires;
- Guys using the absolute most disgusting form known to mankind and thinking they are the sh!t;
- PTs watching their clients perform exercices with the worst form and ROM known to mankind, and not say anything about it;
- Girls on the various machines pulling or pushing 10 pounds;
- Dudes curling 3 centimeters away from the dumbell rack;
- People putting their stuff on the various benches without actually using them;
- People not re-racking their dumbells - or people who let weights on the barbells. Lazy ass inconsiderate mofos.

My gym owner is a gym idot....
She's always working (2-3 employees), not making a lot of money but she doesn't need to. I guess it's just a passion.
I chose that gym because there's everything I need and it's always empty...
She decided to sale visalus products to make more money.. She added t.v (4) with body vi publicity. Every time she talks to you it's because she wants to sale visalus products. She use to be nice but how can you respect a gym owner who want you to replace every meal with a shake... + I'm always confronting her when she talks about it to another gym member. Of course if you eat 5-6 shake a day you will lose weight it's not rocketscience.
I hate that gym now...☆ ☆ QUEBEC CREW ☆ ☆

It really gets quite awkward when you are doing abs on the mat and there is a big guy doing splits next to you and you can't ignore it because the mirror is in front of you.... no hate, just very awkward
