Saw this dude getting pumped to deadlift 345 lbs, so I'm like "cool". He's pacing, grunting, chalking his hands...and pacing, grunting, chalking...and pacing, grunting, chalking.
This goes on for several minutes, and he eventually racks the weight without ever having lifted it.

The people that really get to me are the people that get changed, sit down at bench, and whip out their phones and are on them for countless minutes... like what are you even here for!?!?

You are a gym idiot when you swing your arm like your pitching girls softball trying to do front raises

theres 3 squat racks in my gym..last night every single one of them was taken by *******s doing curls. girlfriend was trying to set new pr for squats last night and when I asked one of the guys how many more sets him and his buddy had he told me about 4 more, after already completeing like 5.
can you complain about this to gym management?theres so many places in the gym you can do curls. gf finally realized why i get so pissed when i see *******s doing this..she ended up getting tired of waiting and just left without working out
another guy I see at my gym all the time is this fat ass who literally just sits around. I've never seen him lift a weight. Hell be at the smoothie bar or in the locker room just sitting, not sweating at all to signify he did anything, from the beginning of my workout till the time i leave. why bother leaving your couch if your gonna do that

I saw a guy benching 255 with literally a 1-2 inch range of motion and a spotter helping him out the whole time. I would love to see how this guy squats. He must be the king of heavy knee bends. And he was walking around the gym with his chest puffed up and a mean looking glare on his face.

I do believe that I do. For every 1 kid between the ages of 15-19 that knows what they're doing at my there are literally hordes that don't. Can be somewhat interesting to watch between sets sometimes, usually makes a good example when I'm training my son...but I've stepped in a couple times to save somebody from themselves. Watched a couple kids one time load 900# on an overhead leg press and do 1/4" reps without releasing the carriage. Had to have one of the trainers step in and show them what they were doing before one of them accidentally released the carriage and crushed themselves...would have held me up from getting my sets in if I had to wait for all the blood, sh** and guts to be cleaned up.

To the majority of posters on here who find these tiny little idiosyncrasies to obsess about. Get a ****ing life you bunch of vain morons.
I guess this is why a lot of people are afraid to go to the gym - because of the "gym people". They assume that gyms are filled with extremely vain, conceited, low self-esteem, narcicistic individuals who have time to sit around the gym with their gym clique and keep their chronically wounded self-esteem patched up. This thread confirms they are right.
The gym is some place I go to, get my workout done with, and leave.
I try to go at times when the gym isn't packed wall to wall - but even if I have to go at peak hrs, I still find multiple simple solutions to not let this hinder me. If somebody is using a piece of equipment I need to use, I either 1) Do a similar exercise with a different piece of equipment 2) Change the order of my workout 3) Sneak reps in while they take a break. I'm perfectly satisfied with my gym experience each and every time.
I wear a cheap t-shirt and gym shorts; sometimes I just wear 10 year old clothes that are practically rags. To the people obsessiong about "gym fashion" - for ****s sake you spend one hr in the clothes and then they go in the laundry bin.
I gotta assume that this board is composed of 90% socially insecure teenagers for this thread to exist and to have so many posts. Jesus ****ing christ get another ****ing hobby to fill your time people - obsessing about other peoples percieved faults isn't a form of self improvement.Last edited by steve234; 10-05-2011 at 03:46 PM.

lmao yeah...there are the ignorant teens everywhere (and more than a serious lifter would care to see). I like to see a group come in and load up the bar and guess how many reps they get...its usually about 1/4 of a rep with their buddy shrugging the bar back onto the rack. lol

Gym idiots also try to interrupt your workout to swap turns. Just be patient and wait until a person is done using the equipment. Don't try to force yourself in between there sets douche!

I'm no superstar in the gym but some people are just hopeless.
One kid walks in with these giant skate shoes on, sits on the bike for 20 minutes on his cell phone. Does curls (not really curls, terrible form, sorta just sets his elbows to 90 degrees and swings the dumbbells), then goes on the ab crunch machine, back and forth for 2 hours, doesn't even do bench like most posers. Then his friends walk in with sunglasses and hats on... Then they all line up in front of the mirror and flex, usually their triceps which they do NO work on.
Good on them for having a crack, as long as they aren't taking up benches/weights and don't interrupt my workout they can continue making idiots of themselves.
Every now and then I'll see someone struggling with form and looking lost and am happy to give them a bit of advice (I'm no expert but some things are obvious). But these kids I wouldn't waste my time on...

Funny how people don't grasp the concept of the thread lol. Big difference between people who don't know and want to learn and people who don't know, have no intention of learning, and just wanna do their own thing while getting in people's way or risking bodily harm on themselves and others. Gym noob does not equal gym idiot. And if someone in particular thinks were all this and that for complaining about idiots, they shouldn't be in a thread about exactly that! When you take your workout seriously and idiots get in the way it gives you a reason to complain or tell the story, so once you get serious come back to this thread.

Maybe not an idiot but very weird
- Seen two guys on bench today. With the 45s hanging off the bar by the grip holes instead of the center round holes. The weight was swinging around on each end. They where regulars that I have seen bench normal before. Anyone know of any reason to do thisLast edited by tunagoat; 10-06-2011 at 07:38 PM.
