There was a guy today who wasn't really a "gym idiot," but he made me laugh. He was wearing a belt for every single exercise he did. Bench pressing 105, DB curling 15s, every single lift. I'm not making fun of the weight he was lifting...everybody starts somewhere, but I'm sorry, you don't need a belt for curling 15s. At first I thought he must have a bad back injury, but then I noticed he was wearing the belt the gym provides for its members. If he had an injury I'd think he'd own his own belt.
Who knows.

The point is that you can do a lot of the silly exercises people do in the power rack elsewhere. In my gym, the power rack is the ONLY place you can do squats (I don't count smith squats). And, there's ONE power rack. So quit deadlifting, barbell shrugging and curling in the power rack and GTFO you friggin amateur!

So I'm not supposed to deadlift in the squat rack because you might be coming in to squat? I don't think so brah. Like the other poster said, not a lot of people in my gym squat or DL (or BB shrugs for that matter). If someone asked me to use it while I was DLing, I would move, but in 18 months at my current gym I've never once been asked.

today these two frat guys came in, first they went to preacher curls, then standing barbell curls, lying incline barbell curls, cross body DB curls, then hammer curls, normally I wouldnt care, but this is the 5th day in a row ive seen them do the exact same routine.

People, well usually just the one person, who you see in the gym every time your there and he tries to become your best friend. Constantly talking to you while your in the middle of a set. This person annoys far more people than me and is notorious for doing this to everyone in my gym. Its only a small place its usually quiet and this person just comes into the gym, does absolutely nothing only annoy everyone around him. Jackass.

I was doing squats yesterday. I started off light to do 20 reps. Gradually building up the weights as I was doing less reps. On my final set (about 120kg, or what I thought) I unracked it and I notice in the mirror that the bar was sloping down to one side. I thought: 'why does that side feel heavier'. Anyway, I proceeded to do my 8 reps. Started taking off the weights and realised that I forgot to take off the 10kg weight off one of the sides before putting the new amount on. So, basically- I was lifting about 65kg on one side and only 55kg on the other. I felt embarrassed as phuck.
Note to self; take notice of weight on both sides.

There are not many idiots in my golds gym but I really hate to see guys with huge defined upper body and tooth pick legs, when I see them I always stare at there legs first, it they spend so much time gettiny that great physiquue up top, why can't they balance it out with legs?

Guys who make fun of other people in the gym for doing lifts incorrectly, when they are obviously uneducated.

Heh, I know you're trolling, but aren't there considerable health risks involved with serious muscle imbalances? I know that overdeveloping the chest and neglecting the back can lead to postural problems and eventual RC damage. Though it might be broscience, I can't imagine that having a massive upper body and zero leg development is entirely healthy in regards to things like your hips and knees.Misc MD Crew

In general I'd agree with this. But in my gym, I've only seen other people squatting maybe 5 times (even including quarter squats). I've been making a point of only using the power rack for squats so that it's free for others to use, but no one else uses it (or even appears to know what it's there for), so today I got too lazy to move outside of the cage for my deadlifts. I don't think anyone cared.
