we've all seen the shodow boxer, but my gym has this guy who "shadow golfs" srs.

he does these side chop excercises on the cable pulley machine (sorry not sure what they're called)...then starts hitting imaginary 300 yard drives with his "air" #1 wood

was hard not to LOL out loud when i first witnessed this.

also saw a guy bring in a small portable DVD player and proceed to do p90x workout in the middle of the gym floor...didnt even use any equipment, looked weird man lol.

I hear a lot of you guys complain about bicep curlers in squat rack. Today, I came to my gym for some leg workout and wanted to start with squats. One squat rack was busy with a guy ... well... squatting.

And the other one was busy with someone else who was doing this...

I stared at him baffled as he did his push ups interrupted by him occasionally getting up on his knees and writing his reps on his notepad which was laying besides him. I sorta stared at him for about three minutes getting ready to ask him to do his push ups somewhere else but the squat rack next to him got freed up so I went there.

This dude proceeded doing his push-ups for about ten more minutes... towards the end he got fancy and started doing wave-like push-ups where your butt starts high in the air and then moves down to the ground...

Safety first! God knows this is the safest place in the gym to do push ups.. I mean if a car crashes into the gym this guy won't be run over right? He reminds me of the people who just come to the gym to run up and down the stairs holding a ball above their head. If your whole workout doesn't include weights or any machines couldn't you do it at home for free?

I know bro, guys like that dont have any gym etiquette.
How about when your on the foam roller (SMR) and some moron literally steps over you to do some corny stretching from 1970's. and you say "excuse me" and they give you the stink eye, like your the a-hole. They have no idea that some one can get seriously hurt, if that bone head trips on you, your screwed and so are they. you get the picture.

    <Cut cuz too long>

Laughed for real on this one. We used to have one guy using a jump rope right at the entrance to the "strenght-room". So every1 trying to gain some muscle had to face the challenge of passing through first.

Great thread.... I'm sure this has been posted at some stage over the past million pages.

But today saw a guy on the lat pull down machine. I was only keeping an eye out at I was waiting to use it.

I saw that each set was the same weight. He's finished his last set, looked around, did not notice me then replaced the pin to DOUBLE the weight and walked off.

I mean really, do you care THAT much about what people think at the gym that you change the weight before walking off to make it look heavier?

Everyone has stories of people with awful gas in the gym...that happens when you eat as much protein as bodybuilders do...but I have never incurred this until this morning. The guy next to me on the leg press had the old-lady-up-the-stairs-farts...like, one fart for each step. Everytime the weight came down, some whey fueled turbulent gas would escape.

I Literally had trouble not laughing...as did the other two people that were in earshot. He on the other hand acted like nothing happened. Just kept going about his business. I guess props to him for being focused?

I just laughed it off and walked away when I was done.

With his 2 friends, he then proceeds to hog the squat rack for an hour to do barbell curls. I could have sworn they did 10 sets each. Every time I see those 3 guys, I always see them working their biceps and their chest.
That's probably because squats are going to hurt them.

today at the gym there was this guy that put the lat pulldown at a weight he couldn't handle, but was determined to get the bar down ... I watched as he tried jerking it down, and eventually he put his whole bodyweight on the bar with his feet off the floor till it got down, then let go .. Did he really think that counts as a rep?

Another gym idiot, tells me I'm weak and fat since I can only squat 170 (which is true, don't get me wrong). I simply tell him I'm working on it, and I ask how much he squats and he says 185 (fair enough, he's a lot smaller than me). I ask him to show me and give me some pointers. He loads up 15 more lbs than what I was lifting and proceed to get it off the rack, backs up and then squats down really slowly only to not be able to get back up, he basically fell forward. It was hilarious....turns out he's used to using the smith machine with 1/4 rom with the 185lbs.

    Gym idiots

    You're a gym idiot if:

The pretty boy. You have an attitude because you have been working out for a long time and you think you are a VIP member of the gym. Your presumed "status" gives you priority over others for the use of machines and weights. You think you're so pretty so you spend most of the time staring at the mirror in admiration. In the meantime other people, some bigger than you, are lifting weights and getting a real workout. = pathetic gym idiot.

There's this guy I see in my gym sometimes, kinda reminds me of this.. comes in wearing TapOut shirts everytime, also wears a flat-brim hat turned sideways, sticker still on of course, wears gloves(nothing against these but it just makes him look like an even bigger tool), one of those dog-tag necklaces and pulls his socks up to just below his knees.. basically looks like he is trying to score some high school girls at the gym. Everytime I've seen him he only works his chest/arms which doesn't surprise me at all

Why was he being an ******* in the first place and telling you that? Doesn't he realize we all have to start somewhere? Obviously a gym idiot for that reason alone. I hate people like that.

It's like ni**a!?! Stop being a little pretty boy in front of the mirror and take your sh*t off the bench!! I'm tired from my workout and I wanna sit down for 30 seconds while I grab my bag from the locker and get a little organized before i leave and go home to shower. You have a locker for a reason. Use it!
If you speak, utter or type the phrase "ni**a", while having an accompanying photo on the left showing you are white...................................then you are a gym idiot.

    Oh......my.......God.

    Did I just see that.

A personal trainer, having a guy do barbell squats while standing on the ball.

I'm at a loss for words.

That picture has convinced me that humans have hit the point where evolution is now reversing itself.

So this is a classic which I'm sure you've all encountered.

I'm doing my heavy deadlift day. 420, 5X2. Great day.

After doing my sets, two of the PT's approach me. The PT's at my gym are friendly. I've spoken to them at the smoothie bar, nice guys, but not all that brilliant about fitness despite being PT's.

Anyway, they said they saw me doing my deadlifts. I said yeah, it was a heavy day. They said they could show me some stuff that would benefit my core and total body strength more.

I said "What is it?". They proceeded to grab the 70 lb straight bar off the weight tree, stand on a half-ball, and do a combo: Good morning, high pull the bar into a front squat position, then do one front squat, then do one overhead press.

I said, cool, I'll try it sometime (but had no intent to ever try that stupid ****, I can overload each of those movements and gain more muscle by doing them individually, with heavier weights, on a stable surface).

They said "You should, deadlifts only work your lower back and grip".

With that statement I almost spewed vomit on them in disgust and told them bye and left.
