My training partner is a gym idiot. He always leaves his weights in the middle of the floor and whenever I tell him to re rack them or put them away, he always cops an attitude about putting them back (like a little girl). I never leave my weights unattended and he knows that. He doesnt get it/doesnt care, and I tell him 5+ times a day to do so. Recently Ive been getting pissed at him for doing so...hopefully getting the message across.

I run 6-7 miles two times a week and between 8-12 on Saturdays while training for my third half marathon. There is no way I'd run that distance before I did my actual workout! I'm so drained from the running I don't know how you can do the lifting, and a five mile run is easy for me. I have run after lifting which is not a problem. Last night I made the mistake of doing a spin class, part of my half marathon training, right before I lifted and even that was a mistake. I never realized how much I used my upperbody during the class.
Realize that I am new to working out. I've only been doing it for six weeks as I decided that I need to do more than just run to get fit.

you know you r a gym idiot if you try to do shoulder press on the hack squat machine.
saw this guy at the gym, obviously the only exercise he knew about was lifting the dinner fork to his mouth, and he tried doing shoulder press on the hack squat machine.
fell on him. epic fail.-we are what we repeatedly do. therefore, excellence is not an act but a habit.

I love this. This isn't to say that people who are out of shape or not particularly muscular don't know nutrition. However, you have to love it when one of these guys gives you absolute nonsensical information that, like you said, goes against almost everything that you have ever read or learned.
It reminds me of the time I went into a local Vitamin Shoppe and asked one of the employees for casein, and he said they were out and starts telling me how it sucks and the benefits of whey (of which I am already aware). I'm just looking at this vastly overweight guy like, "is he serious?"

I thought I had my gym shoes in my locker but guess what they were not, so I had to work out with my dress shoes, thank god it was late and no one was in the gym.

I appreciate that we all have different fitness goals so I think it's unfair to bash you; though, I'm not sure that I understand your routine, i.e., whether you are doing a 5 mile run because it's easy for you and then weight training or something else. However, I think the point that some of the other posters were trying to convey is that it probably isn't such a great idea to weight train immediately after doing strenuous cardiovascular training because the cardio will put your body in a catabolic state that will not help with the weight training. Like someone else said, if your goal is to put on muscle, then you're probably not approaching it the right way. Of course, if that isn't your goal, keep doing whatever you like.

Just got back from the gym and a guy came in today who looked like he'd just left a night club. An AX tshirt, what looked to be some expensive jeans, 2 silver chains, a shiny earing and lather shoes.
If I wasn't dying on the treadmill I'd probably have laughed.Spanish Dave for King.

It's the typical cardio class that, if you like Latin music and dancing, you'll go because it's fun, not because "it's your day to do cardio". A lot of beginners drag their ass to the gym, get on a stationary bike, hate every minute of it, and then quit going after 2 weeks. I think this is the kind of class that can make exercise fun for them, and they are more likely to stick with it in the long run.
As most gym classes, it can be as challenging as you make it.

Push yourself as far as you possibly can, and just when you've pushed yourself to your limits, you push it just a little bit more.

Saw something that you bb.comers would appreciate.
Bf and gf go to the gym together, go to the squat rack. The girl is squatting while her boyfriend was right behind her, like they were grinding in a club. After she finishes squatting, he proceeds to curl in the squat rack.

On a similar note, I think it is funny when a guy and girl (not necessarily bf/gf) workout together, and the guy tries to act all alpha. I think you guys know what I mean, like when the guy acts like this brutal personal trainer and makes the girl do all these intense exercises. The guy is usually not that big or strong, but he is usually spouting bro-science that just confuses the heck out of the girl that he is lifting with.
It is even funnier when the chick actually has better form, or can do more pull-ups/dips then the guy can. If you have never noticed this before then look around your gym and you will see it.
