Cities in the west are typically the worst to be driving a stick in due to all the steepness and inclines all over the place. When you combine that with aggressive traffic, driving a stick can suck.

Sticks are WAY more pleasant if you live somewhere that's generally flat.

If you live in a cold weather/snowy winters climate where the roads suck damn near half the year due to snow/ice/etc., then knowing how to drive a manual vehicle serves no practical purpose for most people. Exceptions include things like if you want to drive big assssed trucks for a living, might make it easier to learn how to ride a motorcycle from being used to the concept of manual shifting, etc. But aside from stuff like that, it's nothing but a dink measuring tool.

I will say this, I rarely have the idle hands to fiddle with phones or bullchit when I'm driving manual. I'm forced to be focused on the task.

I prefer stick myself for the driving experience, but can't beat the convenience and performance of an automatic, they just keep getting better and better. Add a 4-5000rm torque converter to an automatic, one of the best mods you can do.
