That is to say, the correlation between a man's ability to fight, willfully dominate another man, make him submit to your physical superiority, directly relates to his religious fervor.

This phenomenon can be observed exactly the same, no matter the combat art, no matter the race, no matter the country.

This may be the case (or may not be), and it may well be that society has a need for religion, God, or similar. (I am sympathetic to religion but honestly i find the likes of Zoroastrianism more enjoyable than Christian beliefs, but thats besides the point)

The problem is, even if religion made stronger men and enhanced everyone's life immeasurably, it's still in no way proof of a God. Religion could be the absolute best thing for humanity, but that has no bearing on the truth. For those of us who seek the truth; rather than a way to enhance our life, none of these arguments really make a difference, even if true.

For me; I'm not religious simply because i don't believe in God (i'm by no means a militant atheist either and am totally open to changing my mind, and have explored the likes of pantheism in my years - probably the correct term is agnostic but im not completely indifferent, i edge towards a mechanical universe without a creator, but i'm nowhere near certain in my convictions), and my mind won't let me believe for the 'sake' of a better, or easier life. I'm far from a militant atheist though.

What's with all the religion vs atheist threads on the misc at the moment anyway? Every single one of them descend into cesspools. For 99.9% of people, no decent argument is going to change lifetime beliefs they have whether atheist or religious; so what is the purpose of these threads other than to make oneselves feel superior over the other by laughing at how 'stupid' atheists and/or religious people are (to be clear; both sides do this). Both atheists and religious zealots on the misc are revealing their own indoctrination and dogmatism in my opinion, and having a debate with dogmatic people is absolutely worthless.
