Good evening misc!!
Amen to that!
I really hope it's the specific person you chose as a partner, not the idea of marriage. *sigh*

I really am glad I chose particular skill sets to train when I was young.
Martial arts (early teens) & weights (late teens), language (the early 20s), and computer (the early 30s).πΊ Lauren Brooks Kelly (snailsrus) - Jul 25, 1991 β Jan 29, 2022

I think what makes me stand out was that I always had the drive to push myself. I never did work alot and it was because my family supported me. I used alot of that time to "research" other things in life. So I'm more skilled than most. But I've also made a chit ton of bad decisions.

Hey OP,
I'd say it was definitely going into the grad school/PhD program. It was a brutal slog that nearly did me in, but I could never be satisfied without going as far as I could go.
There's nothing as satisfying as reaching the summit of your own personal Everest.
Following in second, of course, is making the decision to go to the gym for the first time and pursue bodybuilding.Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.

Somehow getting my functional alcoholic ass to study for the LSAT my senior year of undergrad and getting into a good law school. In hindsight, it feels like something nearing miraculous that I managed to do it because I was otherwise an average to below average student for the previous three years. Most people who knew me were shocked and from a third party perspective it probably looked like it came out of nowhere.

Best: LASEK surgery, but I should have done it 5+ years sooner. Would have changed the trajectory of my life.
Also, when the stock market was tanking earlier this year, I randomly bought about $200k in puts that I ended up earning about $300k in profit on after about 3 weeks. Could have made a lot more, but my life has been a lot happier since that point.
Worst: Listening to the advice of my parents. I've found a ton of success in life, but their terrible advice set me back literally 10 years. I suppose they can be commended for providing me the environment for success, but I had to get away from their influence in order for it to happen.Last edited by OliverHeldens; 09-25-2022 at 08:16 PM.

Some of my best choices was choosing not to get involved in stupid crap could fuk my life up. For instance, not screwing every girl that I could back when I was younger, and wearing a rubber and pulling out anyways. Not getting married to the wrong one to cope with being alone. Not partying and getting involved in that lifestyle.
As far as good choices, staying by my grandmother's side as she aged while my mother and uncle (her kids) ghosted her. Busting my ass at work learning everything i could so I could be the top of the field. My dogs. Sara, a lab/retriever mix, when I got her, it was a friend's litter and I didn't really have the time and didn't know what I was doing. She became my everything. She died last December, which broke me, and then Heidi got hit by a car, but I got Ava, a black GSD. She's my everythign now.
Worst choices. 10 year relationship with a BPD/HPD woman. I spent so much time, energy and money on her. I missed some opportunities with really good women but was too hung up on her. Also, back in HS, I was a bit of a closet computer nerd. Was good at them, but due to being socially awkward and didn't want to be though of as a nerd I went away from it and got involved in my hobby working on cars. Now I am all into their comptuers but it doesn't pay the same. If I had gotten into computers back in the late 90's in IT or SC I would be a senior god tier programmer or someone high up now. I mean I do okay, but it would have been a lot better.
Worst choices, I don't have any really bad one's.
