Ideas for quick access use? I think I've seen something with Rubber Bands but not sure if that uses a more tailor-made product
Ranger band is the way to go. What I like about this method over others is that you can set the sling to the length you want and the retention stays the same. The method around the pistol grip is clean for sure, but I don't like that it requires a specific length and it's not nearly as quick as the ranger band. Depending where your sling points are mounted, you can also use a ranger band in different areas of the rifle to retain it.

Hey guys, would my .45 acp pistol suppressor handle shooting .22LR on my AR, or would that still not end up well?

I asked about using my suppressor to shoot 5.56 in the past, and was told that it wouldn't handle the pressure and potentially explode.

How do you like your Unity riser? I've not shot with one before but I know some people swear it makes a big positive difference, others say they don't like them

I absolutely love it. It's definitely a personal preference thing but I can't recommend it enough. I have taken this rifle out to 300m and do most of the shooting in the 50m-150m range. I have never shot it from a bench and am always in various shooting positions, never having an issue with it.

Don't bully me, I'm sort of new at firearms and a millennial.

But thanks lol. My suppressor is easy to take apart and clean, but I still didn't know if it would be detrimental to the suppressor.

I like T-rex sling keepers better. Rather have the stretch shock cord and fastener (where I can adjust the amount of stretch)....rubber degrades too much/fast

If your talking about a Quiet Bore can, lead sticks to the back of the baffles and is a pain to get off. If you shoot plated bullets it might not be as bad.

Cut from a bicycle inner tube, that's all ranger bands are. I think I spent less than five bucks on the tube and I can make well over 100 bands that have many uses.

I looked up the one you have, that just looks like shock cord and a retention clip. You can buy a set of cord and clips to make as many as you'd want. I went with this set off Amazon (https://a.co/d/6mZputB) to make a new CAT retention on my chest rig. I'd imagine the shock cord and ranger band methods would be pretty similarly worn, especially with the plastic clip. Either way, if you make them yourselves both methods can be done extremely cheap and with supplies left over to use elsewhere.

I can't tell how thick that elastic cord is (from the pic) to compare to the T-rex elastic shock cord ones. But it's probably similar. The clasp is a little different but does the same thing (pinch and it lines up the holes the cord goes through, relax it and if off-sets the holes and keeps the cord tight and in place. They are sold out on the site but you get 2 with a sling. Nice little touch. Buying in bulk does help if you have many more uses for that sort of thing

when sighting in your pistol (handgun) are you guys just going the old fashioned route of by hand? Or are you using something else to take the human element out of it and getting it zero'd as close as you can? Whats techniques do you use?

Brother, if you lived closer, I would just let you take that rifle to the range and blaze away using that little ACOG and see if it is something you really like.

ETA: I’ve gone back-and-forth over the years about whether to keep a sling on my home defense rifle. I’ve had it attached to the rifle with several different things. I have used an actual rubber band, a black cloth bungee hair tie, and what I have on there now which is one of those key holder things that goes around your wrist (I started using that because it also buffers the rifle up against the wall and doesn’t scratch the paint). lol

Seems like it's one of those things that's better to keep on and use if you have the time to.

I'm a Lucas hater but that's cool they come with the sling.

I bought that kit to attach another CAT to a pouch using the drainage grommets. Spiritus charges ten bucks for a CAT retention kit which gets you two pieces of shock cord and two clips. For a few bucks more I now have 48 extra clips and 60+ feet of shock cord to make whichever size retention I need. Was a no brainer.

I appreciate that and would love if that was possible.

I only have two ARs (well, I have a few others I will never shoot again and need to sell) and both are set up for "combat". As such, my HD rifle remains the same as when I take it to the range. A HD situation is one where a sling is probably needed the least, IMO. But, since I'm rocking it for the "combat" setup, I leave it as is.

By hand. For me over time I've discovered that it's the only way to get the zero on for me when shooting...by hand. At least with irons

I was going to do it the ol fashioned way.....but I'll be zero-ing both an optic and a laser now (also have back up tritium irons). Was curious if some use other techniques. I like to rule out human error as much as I can when possible.

Same. Remove as much human error as you can. If your POA is not POI when shooting offhand, your fundamentals could probably use some work.

They are TST. I’ve had a couple of budget red dots and a couple of trijicon MRO’s that I just didn’t love. I replaced an MRO with a green 1.5 ACOG and haven’t looked back.

It’ll work but you’re better off buying a dedicated 22 suppressor. They’re relatively inexpensive compared to any other caliber.

As for your other question, if your can is rated for rifle rounds then it’ll shoot rifle rounds. There’s a handful of 9mm cans that are rated for 308, x39, etc so check the manufacturer’s website

I received the job offer from the Gillette branch of the company I work for. Pay raise, much better town and it has 3 outdoor ranges to shoot at. I'm looking forward to start shooting longer distances past 100 yards. Hopefully I'll be moving by the middle of March, now I need to lock down an apartment to move to.

Congrats man. I've spent a bit of time in western Wyoming but only passed through Gillette briefly a long time ago. Sounds like a positive change for you.
