Tore mine November 2018 and went all of 2019 trying to decide if I wanted the surgery as I maintained use and still able to workout

2020 wanted the surgery as I was tired of Popeye syndrome and had to fake it was bothering my life and not just being vain for esthetic reasons

Covid kept pushing my date back

26 July 2021 got my surgery and final rehab was December with full clear to touch weights again
    Have goodnight.

    Yes srs thread

    Damn man.

I actually immediately went in to the ortho within 2 days and got scheduled for a surgery to reattach within 1 week.

    Tore it in early May

Since the surgery it has atrophied some but I'm already back in the gym lifting 2-3 times a week, getting good pumps again. Just going lighter on that side and lighter/higher reps. Doing more tendon strengthening stuff now.

    Didn't do any rehab

I thought a torn tendon requires surgery ASAP or else it's not salvageable.

How you hurt yours is basically how I hurt mine. Arm extended straight trying to scoot something not that heavy. Heard/felt a pop.

Never did OJ, but I had been on a medicine at the time that increased the chance of tendon injury.

Mine must not have been a complete separation -- my bicep didn't roll up to my shoulder (not sure if that always happens with a complete separation, though).

Didn't get surgery, and mostly rehabbed it on my own.

Still have some residual pain, but able to do pullups again.

Was doing a squadron sporting event of volleyball and wasn’t paying attention as they yelled my name out the ball was coming my way and I just did a spanking motion to send it back to other side and as soon as it hit my palm I felt my arm pop and then unable to move it anymore

    Didn’t salvage mine

I have a scar just below my left knee if that’s where they took it from? But the tendon came from the left leg to put into my right arm and that scar is directly on the inside of my arm where the elbow bends at

Had to prove to the military I had a torn tendon by learning what freaking popeye syndrome is and oh sht yeah that’s the name of why my arm looks dumb as fuk

Happened on a Friday and spent weekend trying to get over what I thought was a sprained arm and that’s why it went completely limp also like OP was able to gym again within a week or so

I don’t know if I’m lucky or not but made it out of it after 2 years not fixing it ok
    Have goodnight.

If you had opted for surgery immediately after the snap, they could have just reattached the arm tendon instead of a transplant scenario.

I didn’t have to get the surgery but the doc recommended it and said I would likely heal quick, and what I have read online is if I didn’t get the operation then my bicep would be deformed and slightly weaker. Didn’t want that.

So the tendon is ruined if you wait too long? Glad I did then.

I tweaked my bicep back in beginning of May. I was just able to start lifting again last week. Didn't seem serious, or painful, but it lingered forever. Injuries are the worst, but be patient and make sure it's definitely healed before trying to lift with it.

That could have turned into something worse. Good thing you didn’t try and power through it.

Did you have any warning signs leading up to it?

I have some kind of tendon injury as of last year due to excessive use of a wrist roller.

I can no longer do regular curls and have to stick with hammer curls.

Basically have to do hammer curl from the bottom of the motion then transition into a regular curl at the top. Otherwise, excruciating pain.

It was Methylprednisolone. Not sure how much an effect it had for causing my injury, but I read corticosteroids can be a cause of drug induced tendon disorders.

I have some kind of tendon injury as of last year due to excessive use of a wrist roller.

I can no longer do regular curls and have to stick with hammer curls.

Basically have to do hammer curl from the bottom of the motion then transition into a regular curl at the top. Otherwise, excruciating pain.

Definitely sounds tendon related. Hammer curls were the first type of curls I was able to do with my surgery arm. Now I can do regular controlled curls but I have to drop the weight down to 10-15lbs otherwise I can feel it pulling some and dont want to re tear it. Mostly just trying to get blood in there anyway. My scar turns bright purple when I lift now. lol

    I believe it.

My grip is actually good. I was just hold 80lb dumbells to my side yesterday and my grip held strong, maybe slightly weaker than my other side.

The main thing that feels awkward/most weak is when I do a strict curl from my side. Or I'm sure if I did preacher curls or anything reaching in front of me to but I haven't even tried yet. It's mostly the supinating/pronating motion that pulls the tendon that feels funky in there.

Hammer curls and shrugs there's almost no difference.

I also have yet to try a full rom wide grip pull up. Don't want to risk it yet. But have been hanging some.

Yeah, it was pretty intense shooting pain. It was weird. I knew immediately I tore it, then I was dreading looking at my bicep and sure enough it was jacked.
