Sounds interesting. If there's a benefit to it, I'll stay immediately srs.

Imo it's for 2 kinds of people:
1) if you're like massively overweight (say 50+ pounds of fat you need to lose), going zero carb for several weeks followed by repeated extended fasts... This not only helps you drop the weight but also resets your relationship with ****ty food, which is the main problem for 99% of fat people... You need to get used to not eating for pleasure before you can fast imo
2) Healthy people who are desperately trying to minmax everything about their body down to the cellular level

Its wonderful (srs). Its the best thing you can do for prevention of disease. Reason 1: auto****y
Reason 2: Natural growth hormone being produced
Auto****y cliffs: With nothing in your stomach, your body starts burning other things for fuel, including fat and various body junk. Hidden in this various body junk are potentially pre-cancerous cells.
Not saying everyone has potentially cancerous cells. Just that if they are in your body, auto****y will get rid of them for youpls do not associate my personalities in misc and sports misc

Real males don't have a digestive system or any digestion-related organs. Only females have digestives systems. Ergo, food and liquids are only for females.
If you eat food or drink liquids, this means you are female.
Enjoy being a female. Human males don't even have digestive systems lol
Human males don't need to eat, drink or even sleep. Muzzlrpress, what planet are you even from if you didn't know this already?!Battlefield 8 fan

I've done 3 days water fast. You'll lose like 10-15lbs but most of that is water weight from glycogen depleted as stated above. But you will also burn a significant portion of fat especially if you're doing fasted cardio. I was doing 15 miles a day on my mtb and still trying to lift. But you will lose a good bit off your PRs even after you start eating again. It does take a toll on your muscles as well as your fat store.

A fast is when you eat as fast as you can so you don't give your body as much time to process the calories so you can eat more, as opposed to a slow, which you use when bulking, which allows your body to process every calorie. For the average person though, a medium works best.
Would kick em in the nuts

This is a great point. If you fall off the wagon for weeks at a time and start eating chit, your stomach expands so you can fit more and more of that sweet gluttonous pizza in your phat cakehole so doing a 3-4 day fast shrinks the stomach in a short period of time and lets you start a proper diet in a 200-500 cal deficit without major hunger pains.

Fasting for extended periods will induce auto****y. Think, spring cleaning for your body. Old cells are recycled, used as energy. You get through it, your body mass produces new ones to replace them.
While your body does break down proteins to use for energy, there is more to proteins than just your muscles. That also includes things like loose skin or other toxic proteins you don't want. Your muscles tend to be spared while fasting, thanks to spikes in HGH. I would suggest walking and light exercise throughout to help keep your lbm.
Fasting increases many beneficial hormones during the fast and for some time after, not the least of which is human growth hormone.
Fasting decreased many hormones that many people have too much of (I won't say "bad" because they're aren't. Insulin is amazing and without it, you die -- but the problem with 95% of people are they have too much of it).
Fasting for 4 days, and this ties back into the auto****y, but it will basically reset your immune system. Get new, fresh t-cells and a spike in them.
I suggest: Go low carb for 2-3 days, then fast. I began fasting and would jump into it -- always around day three, I would enter ketosis, and I would be in misery. Electrolytes will also help with that greatly. Sometimes when I'm feeling like crap just a sip of salty water immediately turns things around. All truth passes through three stages. Need? It can help.
Me, they *are* essential if/when you enter into ketosis. Your body flushes tons of water during this time and that depletes you. However, if you enter a fast already in ketosis, you can get by on just water. No reason not to drink a little salt or potassium, though. Just no calories and no BCAAs or anything that might break the fast. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Absolutely not.
Your body primarily burns ketones and fat when fasting. Fat energy for muscles and ketones for almost all your brain functions. What little brain functions that demand glucose, the body does break down proteins (gluconeogenesis) and converts it into glucose. Proteins does not mean muscles and only muscles, though. Excess skin, broken down proteins in your system and a lot of other things can be used here.
Meanwhile, while fasting even a day your growth hormones spike off the charts, this preserves muscle well.
I do suggest keeping somewhat active while fasting. Don't just sit in a chair/sofa, stimulating your muscles, again LIGHT activity, you will lose very little, if any, during a fast.Last edited by JUSA; 07-21-2022 at 10:05 AM.

Both sodium and potassium there. No harm in what you're doing, provided someone doesn't OD on potassium (or I guess even salt), which nobody who isn't ridiculous ever does. We're talking a pinch here and there throughout the day for most people.
Btw, do you enter your fast already in ketosis or not bother? Like I said, for me, all that water loss when you enter ketosis is a killer, I have to take a lot of electrolytes else I feel like chit and start getting craps in my feet and chit. All truth passes through three stages.
