Okay I've been thinking about dumbell flyes lately and found a contradiction.
1. Conventional wisdom says to only go parallel in order to not tear anything or whatever
2. Conventional wisdom also says in order for optimal muscle growth a full stretch must be achieved during the movement
So What do you think of this?
I'm tending to lean toward the latter, but I'm curious to know what some of you experienced lifters out there have to say

Bump. It bugs the HELL out of me when I see people only going to 90 degrees with DB shoulder and bench press. Almost everybody does it at my gym!Last edited by lgp9999; 10-26-2003 at 02:10 AM.

something i've learned years ago about db flies.
it's not how far your bring the db's down but how far you bring your elbows down.
bend your arms kinda like this ~\/~
with a much narrower fly you dont have too bring the db's down that far just your elbows. its a cross between a press/fly
this method was much easier on my shoulders and i coud use MUCH heavier weight."i just might fade into Bolivian" ~ MIKE TYSON
