Yup. I'm 40 min. from the city and my town is 80% registered republican lmao. But Chicago dictates everything. The corruption is unbelievable. The property taxes make it a nightmare. Then add in unpunished crime for career criminals. State ruined.

And yeah, the property taxes make this one of the worst states to live in, especially around Chicago. Chicago itself is an awesome city, but it's really only enjoyable during our short summers.

I like the summer but the brutal winters are also really enjoyable IMO. After living in Dallas for nearly two years I do miss the extreme cold. Wearing my boots, bundling up with a scarf/jacket, walking around outside.. miss it all.

Agreed. I love winter. Probably why I love the weather here. I wish it snowed a little more though. Plus Chicago is cool around winter/christmas time.

Can confirm. Moved out of there 6 years ago and never looked back. Still follow the news there, and still have most of my wife and I's family there. Unfortunately, it's gotten worse since we've left.

If I had to add another state in contention though - probably New Jersey.
