Is that they didn't accept the loss of Yamacha, Tien, and Chaozu after beating the saiyans Vegeta and Napa.
They just had to activate the ship and travel to Namek for the dragonballs for more wishes.
All it did is bring forth more fighting and conflict.
It was Bulma's fault all along.

They also did it to bring back Piccolo/Kami so they could have their own dragon balls back.
Also androids/cell/buu were already in motion before that and woulda wiped earth. Not to mention Freeza corp probably would have gotten around to finding and enslaving/destroying Earth eventually.
