I want the body of a gymnast too. Ill use her to stand on top of the standing calf raise machine, she can spot me and load my weights of and on the machines. And with her increased range of motion and flexibilty, well. You can use your imagination.

Re: i want the body of a gymnast, how do i go about getting it
I was a gymnast for 20 years until 2 years ago. We trained 30 hours a week. 2 hours every day of strength training. (we did not lift, only our body weight)
If you want a gymnast body. Take a men's gymnastic class. If not, stick to the basics. Wide grip pull ups, push ups, handstand push ups, squat jumps.

No way can a body be built like this http://www.csun.edu/~blr70910/malegymnast9.jpg from just bodyweight exercises...!?!?!?
That's crazy if you can. But I'll be sticking with my weights non the less.
peace.

Bull****. We were not allowed to lift weights because you lose flexibility. Gymnasts only strength train with body weight. Why don't you try strength training 30 hours a week with your body and we'll see how you look.

Ok mr fukin insecure, obviously u have to get a little aggressive to prove a point, didn't realise my opinion bothered u so much.
Anyway, just to correct u, as it seems I need to, I wasn't questioning what you said in a way meaning you were wrong. When I put "?!?!?!" I was asking the question in shock...Sorry if I confused you.
Also, the 'that’s crazy if you can' was open to a reply confirming whether a body like the picture i posted was possible using only bodyweight exercises. I really don't know, I've done much bodyweight exercises in my earlier days when I was practising Muay Thai, but I rarely do them any more.
O and also, I can't answer for you. But I’ve been weight lifting for a few years now, and I haven’t lost any flexibility what-so-ever.
But please, out of interest give me some information about what a gymnastics workout routine would consist off...?

Read my first post.
We practice 6-7 hours a day, 5 days a week. Sometimes 6 days a week. The first 2 hours being strength conditioning using only our body weight. From there will go into our normal rotations. We normally hit 2-3 events. Either, Pommels, P-Bars, Floor, Rings, High bar, or Vault. We'll spend an hour 1/2 too two hours on each event. After that, we spend another 30-45 minutes strength training at the end of practice.
I started lifting weights while still a gymnast and I stopped because I lost flexibility. Can you do all three splits? Can you do an invert over split? Can you hyper extend your arms and legs? Can you hyper extend your shoulders on Ps?

Hey
So you were a very serious gymnastic, how come u gave it up for weight lifting? All though you lost ur flexibility, you could have gotten it back...
I can do all three splits not sure what an invert over split is tho, nor hyper extending my shoulders on Ps?

I was a competitive gymnast for 20 years. I stopped because I wanted a life outside of gymnastics. I worked a 40 hour a week job and trained 30 hours. I had no time for anything else.
Once I quit gymnastics and stuck with weight training, I decided I wanted to get big. I gained 30 pounds within 6 months of quitting and I've been growing ever since.

Geez that's a busy week!
One of my friends used to be a member of the english gymnastic squad, but she stopped because it consumed to much of her life - that, and her getting older and more curvy.
Congrats on the 30lbs in 6 months thats quite impressive.
Peace.

Thanks! Gymnastics is a great sport. Even if you decided to take a class a few hours a week I definitely think you would get something out of it.

Interesting stuff! Bpp the obvious answer is what Ryan told you :join a men's gym class and find out what's what.
Ryan- did you guys train to failure or avoid it in your strength training sessions? did you do dips too?
One has to admire the dedication of these guys -two hours a day training and then going and doing an 'iron cross' all afternoon (very hard gymnastic move). I'm ashamed of my current low volume x2 a week routine

Is the guy in that picture a world class athlete and/or Olympian? If so..you have to understand that certainly not "everyone" could acquire a body like that without weights.

I dont know about that, what I was implying in my previous post that seeing as that guy was probably an Olympic Gymnast that he used a bit of anabolic assistance. I really dont think the average natural joe could pull off a body like that through Gymnastics alone..It is hard enough getting a body like that with weights.

yeah my friend were ripped as hell from doing it, so I tryed it but it's so hard, it's really different muscle than working out, and they are even stronger than most people that work out for years, but man they are short. It's a great sport.

A load of bull****. Most gymnasts DO NOT take AS. That was one of the things our coach lectured us about in practice. To stay away from it. My old coach is 5'9" 220 and he competes natural bodybuilding.

I've seen your posts. You are the guy with the skinny arms, flabby stomach and gyno who gave Colssteel a hard time on his thread. I will not fall for your flame baiting. So go try and stir up **** else where.
