Can't think of any really. Every state and city has its redeeming qualities and interesting things to do/see. I've lived in 5 states, Florida, Colorado, New Jersey, Texas and Tennessee and all of them were pretty nice and had their bad parts. I'm not a fan of state income taxes though.

California - Seems like it would have been an awesomenstate to live in back in 1950's - 80's before they went full retard with consistent deep blue liberal politics, save for the occasional RINO bum they'd elect like Arnold into the 2000's. Overall taxes and living in that state are insane. Factor in all the clown world chit, and I'd never want to deal with anything beyond visiting there.

Oregon and Washington - They're chitty versions of CA.

Missouri - Went through that state and looked around a bit back in the 90's as a kid. Seemed like an ugly, boring af state. I'm sure I missed plenty of cool stuff about it, but nothing about that state seemed interesting to me at all.

Iowa - One of the utimate bumfuk middle of nowhere flyover states. Been there plenty of times, so I can speak to it pretty well. Even as a Midwesterner, that place is beyond boring as chit. All there is to do there is look at corn fields, and get drunk at small town dive bars while hanging out with local rednecks/traveling tradies doing 1-2 year job stints there. Their few bigger cities don't have anything to offer that you can't find elsewhere. Their one saving grace is that they aren't complete morons politically.

St Louis has some cool stuff to do and their is some nice hiking in Missouri as well. I spent a few months their when I was 18.

Anybody saying California is delusional. I moved out because the cost was eating me alive. If I was CEO 10K a day I'd consider going back. If you have the money, nearly every con of California is wiped out. Put your kids in private school. Live in a beach town or OC. The amount of culture packed in is incomparable. Standards are higher as well in many facets. Dealing with the idiots here in Omaha getting my kids in school was a nightmare compared to OC. Also, California is fukking gorgeous.

I never knew how much people talked about california until I left to finish up school in New Mexico. Everyday on the news there's some story about midwesterners bitching about some new thing California is doing, and whatever this new "thing" is will definitely be the downfall of the state, lol.

The only thing keeping people like me there is the weather, beach, friends, sports. As far as the reporting, it's pretty accurate. The laws are egregiously bad and dont favor the people. Leads to homeless camps, crime, skyrocketing housing prices, extra gas taxes, etc.

This is the trade off to the location.

My choice goes to Massachusetts. I have not seen any other state with as many insufferable people from it as MA. Self-righteous and preachy but at the same time trying to play up the scruffy treat others like trash mentality, easily the worst of the worst to be around (although I have met exceptions). My choice does not even revolve around what the state is like but rather the people from it. I might not like the hot and humid summers full of bugs but Southerners are some of the nicest people in the country and you can live a good life down south.

CA might have GOAT weather and nature but the people are insufferable.

I would probably go with Massachusetts as well. High overall costs, poor quality of life. Boston is not really a world class city, but is essentially the same COL as NYC and some of these other places with good weather or atmosphere.
