I got offered Bronze for $100 but only the first 3 visits are $65 then I pay everything out of pocket so F that.
Then silver for $150 which had a $6500 deductible, I was told I have to pay this amount and then my insurance would split the cost 80/20 with me. Say I break a leg and it costs $4k, thats all me until the amount reaches $6500
Then gold for $170 which had no deductible and it means the insurance pays for my stuff right away 80/20.
What am I missing here? Why would anyone get silver or bronze?
Explain this bs math to me

Health insurance with zero deductible, what am I missing here?
-Some people say good things come to those who wait, truth is, good things come to those who work..... who work later.....who work harder...... who are willing to go further than anyone else to get them. If you're waiting for good things to come to you, you'll be waiting for a pretty long time.

Most people that get silver or bronze probably just want a low monthly premium, but that always comes with a high deductible.
The lower the deductible the higher the monthly premium. Usually, people that think they are generally healthy, and don't think they need to go to the doctor much, and just need to get basic services tend to get the silver or bronze.Last edited by Dontoewsmebro; 04-07-2022 at 08:57 PM.

The one thing I don't like about the US is the insane medical costs.
Insurance does nothing more than allow hospitals to charge obscene amounts that will in almost all cases cripple a family for a generation or two if you don't have the right insurance, and get hurt.2014 Misc Resolution: Negging no pics (screen captures of text don't count as pics)

Bro they just make this chit up, it's some wizardry bro
Gold, silver, bronze, it's some marketing execs in a boardroom
It's pretty clever, kinda like the olympics, don't you want the gold bro?
American healthcare is fundamentally corrupted by greed
Would just get the best insurance you can afford

Think about it bro, what are the differences between insurance and buying stocks?
What are the differences between betting on a horse and buying a call option?
It's all about mathematics and probability, calculating odds and minimizing risk
Insurance is a financial product, it's like a soda pop from a vending machine
You are betting that you will need medical attention at some point
As you get older, or if you have kids, you are gonna need medical attention
Problem is, while healthcare was once heavily subsidized, it's been corrupted into a get rich quick scheme
So now you need insurance to not die, the insurance companies, drug companies, and healthcare providers are in bed together
I say this as a completely uninsured man at the age of 26 with no kids and no complications that require medical attentionBeans. Cleans. Gasoline.
