I have an old pipe, thinking about getting some tobacco for it.
Where do you buy yours and what king do you like?

I have a collection of around 20 pipes that I accumulated in my early 20s. Went back and looked for some sites I used to buy from and found this one:
https://www.smokingpipes.com/bestsel...d-pipe-tobacco
Link has their most popular tobaccos. For a newb I'd avoid any latakias and stick to Virginias or burleys. When you see the aromatic tag that means it smells nice, but might taste like chemicals.
IF you have a local legit tobacco shop/cigar shop, go there first. I'm not talking about those tobacco shops that are just bong and vape shops with pipes as an afterthought. You can tell almost immediately by asking the staff if they know what they're talking about, tell them you want to a recommendation for a novice but you don't want the cheapest or most aromatic blend (or pipe).
For me it was pure novelty. I do like the act of smoking tobacco but the pipes are too much of a pain in the ass for me anymore. I'd probably stick to a cigar these days but don't really get the opportunity with young kids.#sunyourballs

I I used to, 7 pipes in rotation. Most were briarwood, one clay, one corncob.
But I quit smoking in 1988.The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. Thomas Jefferson

My husband enjoys a pipe so I asked him. This is his current rotation.
Magnum Opus by Hearth & Home
Squadron Leader by Samuel Gawith
Northwest Trek by Country Squire
Boswell’s Northwoods
And So To Bed by Esoterica
He suggests if you are new to pipes, instead of buying a tin or bulk, buy a few prepared sampler packs of pipe tobacco so you can try a variety of styles to determine your personal preference without ending up with loads of tobacco you won’t smoke. He says, for reference, his favorite style is American English which has a cavendish element.
