Absolutely. Out riding back roads, sometimes we’d get lost on purpose just to find our way back. Or at least he pretended to be lost. Sometimes we’d drive for hours just to try some family owned restaurant in a tiny town we’d heard about.
He worked all the time and made **** money but if he ever had a Saturday off we’d go on adventures. He’d always pull up to the atm and take out cash for the day, and give me some money to buy myself something while we were out. Good times man.***Georgia Crew***

If there's one thing I hate in this life, it's losing. If there's two things I hate, it's losing and getting cancer.

That's it right there. Gives me some ideas to do with my girls as well. I like that getting lost thing. My girls would eat that up lol.
My dad used to take me and my friends down this old dirt road to this old train bridge we called the trussells. We'd jump off the bridge swim down the rive. Go on the rope swing and whatnot. Then afterward we went to the 7/11 and got slushies. Dad would always do crazy drifting on the old dirt road too. Was a a blast.

Yes I do. It's the little things.. car rides to the liquor store, or when we would jam out to old school R&B while he would cut our hair and spit stories/knowledge.
When I was really little he used to tell us Sunday afternoon stories. We would lay down and he'd tell us to close our eyes and he would go on for 45 min to an hour about the adventures of him and his cat "Shaka" and all the crazy things they would get into. Man had a way of telling stories and I still remember at some point there was always Limburger cheese involved in every story lol. Such a random McGuffin but every time we would be waiting for it and would get all excited when it finally came up cause we knew that's when the story was gonna get really good

Going to give my Dad a call when I get out of work to catch up, thanks for this thread, OP. Moving across the country only had one big downside, being away from family.
My parents divorced when I was about 5, so it really sucked. He didn't have much between child support for 2 kids and paying his way himself, but weekends with him were still a blast. We used to play Nintendo, watch movies and I'd help him out at his baseball card shows. We would go to family gatherings (on his side obviously) and his parents owned a cottage up in Cape cod. We used to go there once every summer. Good times.Misc Firearms Crew

This is part of what life is all about man. And this is how the saying goes......."pops' legacy lives on and gets passed to the next generation"
Miss my pops. He was an integral part of my life since childhood. Till the time he died, I still always called him for life's toughest decisions.
This is why I dont trade money for time with my kids. One prerequisite for me to have a family was to be financially independent prior to having kids. That way I could spend a good amount of time with them to help them build their character and have memories such as this thread is reminiscing.

ITT: everyone’s dad was a tradie
Some of my earliest memories from about age 5 and 6 are fishing and shooting guns with my dad, going “hunting” which was really just walking around in the woods and mountains and looking at birds, playing Super Nintendo together, watching early to mid 90’s the Simpsons, playing cribbage and poker* Rawdog crew * Creampie crew * Poverty crew *

My Dad passed away 3 days before Christmas and yesterday was officially 2 months. His birthday is this Thursday, he would have been 85. I am still grieving pretty much every day. I miss him so much.
I remember going to my grandparents farm update and spending the day hanging out in the sunshine and shooting a 22 at clay targets he made. I remember going to the dump with him on Saturdays.I miss be able to go to him and ask for advice on pretty much anything. You should have heard the stories he used to tell of growing in the Great Depression.
I miss him dearly and am still crying....
