    Title.

If yes, what kind and what does the rest of you stack look like?

Question for those who take them- what vitamin/micro-nutrient deficiency are you preventing or treating? And why not just take a supplement of that, specifically? If you are vegan, take B12. If you take omeprazole for reflux and can't/don't want to eat nuts, seeds, greens, take magnesium. Live in Alaska and don't see sun 6 months of the year, Vitamin D....etc....

Seems like the multivitamin thought process is just to throw a do-it-all supplement at it with a little of everything because you aren't sure of the nutritional requirements that are specific to you, your diet, your fitness plans and goals. Most of the time it imo it is pouring money down the drain, and for the people who actually need something specific for them personally, a multivitamin may not meet the need.

My brother used to tell me that taking vitamins was a waste of money, he buys and collects old Vespas. I would tell him what I've told a lot of people, it's like paying for full synthetic oil, premium gas, or insurance. If there's even a small chance that it'll help your overall health, why not? The one thing about fruits and vegetables is that they spray all sorts of preservative coatings on them to keep them from going bad while they're being transported. If you know where these items are grown and know that it's going from ground to table, that's one thing. If you're buying from grocery stores, that's another, and you start to wonder if your body can even break down some of the chemicals used to "preserve" these things. I figure whatever my diet is lacking, a multi-vitamin may be helpful, and for a few dollars a day I'm fine with that kind of expense.

As for what I take, I try to switch it up here and there, but I really like Orange Triad, but tend to wait for them to go on sale before I restock. It's been a while so I've been using Myovite and Wodpak. I still prefer Orange Triad, but I don't think it has any fish oil components like the other two do. Oh and the Wodpak's fish oil is pretty pungent.

No I do not take a multivitamin. It’s better to correct a nutritional deficiency by actually choosing better nutrition than throwing a blanket multivitamin at it. I do believe if you have a poor diet it’s better to take one at least.
Your nutrition and workout program determines your success.

As much as I'd love to get analysis on what my body is deficient in, I'd rather just simplify things by taking a baseline of what is recommended. Your body will get acclimated to what it has available and will process what it needs. What I'm trying to avoid is my body being low on something like Calcium, and deciding that it is going to take the stores away from my bones. If I give my body just a calcium supplement, what if there's not enough potassium, magnesium, or Vitamin D for it to process the calcium? Then I have to supplement with those. I figure companies have done a lot of research and hopefully have dosed their supplements appropriately (although I suspect the whole mega-dosing thing can be a bit of a problem) in order for my body to maximize their use.

I do wish that I had the resources to customize my diet so that I didn't have to worry about supplements, but as a working adult I have to make compromises sometimes. The same goes for sleep, I would love it if I could sleep for the amount of time that I needed to and could get up only when I felt fully rested. Unfortunately, I live in the realm of reality and sometimes that means waking up after 4 hours, "supplementing" with caffeine, and getting my day started.

Thanks for the information. While it's not the $23/bottle deal from a few years ago, I guess I'll go ahead and stock up.

I take one mainly because I can't get in the daily % of all the ingredients that are in a simple multi through whole food alone unless I eat non stop throughout the day and spend a lot of $ at the grocery.

I take full dose multi (Vitamode) on training days with protein shake pre-workout with half dose fish oil (Ultimate Omega). Post workout shake I'll take my vitamin D(Carlson) and half dose magnesium (BioEmblem). Usually zinc (Thorne) an hour or so before dinner.

I take glucosamine(Now) and milk thistle(LifeExtensions) as needed.
