Question for Trump supporters who think ivermectin works
Why did merck pharmaceuticals, the biggest producer of the drug and who would stand to make the most money in the world if it did, put out statements saying there is no evidence ivermectin works for covid?
Shouldn't they have at least lied and said it did so they could make billions off it?

they probably got paid off by phizer. They have more than enough profits to do so. Also it's out of its patent so many other companies can produce it. It's been out since 68 I believe so they have nothing more to make than any generic.

The results look very promising for people who otherwise might not benefit much from the vaccine. Not from preventing infection, but hospitalization and death. So, older people, people with diabetes and obesity, and some other things.
What's promising is that they can be available more widely than monoclonal antibodies. Our logistics for distributing them in a timely fashion to those in need are not good. This is something that will be at the local pharmacy.
The company also agreed to produce this at low cost for poor countries, which is good. People may consider it welfare, but keep in mind when the virus runs rampant anywhere there is always a chance that a mutation may become selected just like delta did.
So, it's good news to have another option to help fight against covid.

Edit...also there's another one like this from Merck

Yeah, I don't want to get my hopes up too high like when the vaccines came out demonstrating +90% efficacy at preventing infection. But I would love it if Pfizer 332 blunted the upcoming winter surge.
Unfortunately ivermectin isn't nearly as effective for COVID as a few kooks would have you believe.Heterologously Vaccinated Superior Race Crew

They were looking at people who were high risk for some reason. Most people should be getting the vaccine and that would be enough. But, if a breakthrough infection happens to someone we know the vaccine may not help as much then this would be something positive they could hopefully use and it be effective...if I understand it correctly.
