Nah man good for them. That’s definitely something that they should be celebrating.
Everyone wants (should want anyway) better for their kids than they had growing up, if parents are celebrating something like this then it shows that they really cared about their childs education. Nothing but respect for that...

This 100%.
I think often the reason a lot of people on the low end don't even try is because their accomplishments are looked down on so why even try.
Also there ae people who tend to put a bad light on it because "It's just community college" or saying it's not a top tier school or whateve, even putting down their major, which should neve be done. . Except if it's Gender??women's studies which it's absolute open season on that.

When not feeling like an abject loser afraid to return home for fear that his own are ashamed of him, you're loling at other families that aren't cold and unapproving of their offspring?
You should see a therapist. The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

I didnt go to college but joined the Navy.
I retired from that at 38 and started collecting about $1400 a month pension for life. Pretty sweet deal in my eyes. Thats after my medical and dental are paid for too."To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda
